For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.

• The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.

• Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

  Have had many fun cars, including a Honda S2000 which I still own, but the MINI Cooper S is the most all around fun Ive had. Great car, inspiring low- end torque, a head-turner on the streets.

  Great car. It is very important to take this car for what it is, a small fun runabout. If you are looking for a car that lets you take a nap in comfort wrong choice. This car is fun, fun to drive,fun to look at, and fun to own. I must also tell you that it is good reliable transportation for a fair price.

  When the lease was up on my BMW Z3, I decided to look for a more reasonably priced car- but i did not want to sacrifice performance- I decided to get a MINI. So far the car is a blast. The first thing I noticed was that it actually handles better than the Z. I love the design of the car inside and out, and the fit and finish is what you would expect from BMW. Though the car has a little less muscle than my other cars, it is far from under-powered and the low price means that I can buy the car rather than lease - so now I get to work on it and make it go faster on my own. I would recommend this car to anyone who loves to drive-

  I have been a MG fan for over 20 years having owned and still owning a bunch. That being said, this Mini Cooper S is without doubt the most fun vehicle I have ever had. It does everything well. I absolutely love it. While its not for everyone, it is definitely for me!

  No disappointments. Extremely fun to drive. Overall quality is excellent. Wouldnt mind some extra horsepower (probably around 200 HP would be ideal)

  I bought my Cooper S to use as a daily driver and to provide some fun driving experiences on the weekends. So far its fulfilled those duties perfectly. The build quality is excellent and its filled with lots of standard features. I didnt add a lot of extra options to mine, but I dont feel like Im missing anything. The car has surpassed my expectations. Its a blast to drive, its got a surprising amount of room inside, its nimble in traffic and fairly comfortable on long interstate drives. I love my MINI!

  I love my MINI! Its fun to drive, very "friendly" inside and out (people constantly stop to ask about it) and its easy to park! I love the interior the dash is fab!; the seats are very comfortable, the a/c works great and rides like a big car - you never feel timid around the behemouths plus it handles great! It gets great mileage and is earth friendly. A guilt- free pleasure to own and I dont feel responsible for war in Iraq.

  My original Mini "S" was more fun to drive, however now that I am older and maybe a little wiser, I dont miss having to carry a complete tool kit in the boot just to keep motoring. The new Mini is 10 times more comfortable and the handling is almost as good even though it weighs twice as much. Sometimes getting older with new toys isnt all bad.
