This Year's Model Updates:

For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.

Pros:
  • The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

  • The Cooper is sweet - 2003 Mini Cooper

This car is fun! The styling appeals to both men and women as it is cute yet fast and handles like nothing I have ever experienced. High tech computers control every function. Run flat tires, oil changes every 15k and outhandles everything on the windy road. Stopped every day by men and women to see the car.

  • What a great car.... - 2003 Mini Cooper

I have waited for the Mini S since it was first talked about several years ago. It was worth the wait. This car has been beautifully executed. My girlfriend and I have had it for 4 months now and we still smile like children every time we drive it. Performance is top notch but it is also and incredibly safe car. QUESTION FOR THE NEGATIVE COMMENTATORS: Do you even own a MINI? Or is it just sour grapes speaking?

  • An Old Mini Owners wish-come true - 2003 Mini Cooper

The 2002 Mini Cooper is an old (1969) Mini owners wish-come-true. It retains the fun ride, with the rack and pinion steering. I t has all the amenities of a much larger and much more expensive car - such as a 6 speaker audio system, on board computer, GPS large wheels, a sophisticated climate control - dial in your desired temp - cooling or heating and much more. Loaded with all the above (and more) it sells for $22,760 !!! And thats WITH tax aand everything.

  • Dont judge it until you drive one! - 2003 Mini Cooper

I test-drove the Acura RSX Type-S, 03 Accord V-6 Coupe 6-speed, Mazda 6 s (V- 6). Cooper wins hands-down on fun and sportiness. I was skeptical about the meager horsepower at first, but all it takes is a test drive to become a believer, at least if you claim to be a sports car enthusiast. The driving will convince you, but add the nice features and the total ownership experience is a bargain, even at MSRP.

  • Cooper S - Cooper Comparison - 2003 Mini Cooper

Owned a MINI Cooper for 9 months, and just traded up to Cooper S. The engine torque is SO MUCH BETTER. Very noticeable in town driving where there is little need to shift down from 4th or even 5th at town speeds.

  • Wont drive anything but a Mini - 2003 Mini Cooper

Bought my Mini new in 2003. There have been a few issues with squeeks and rattles, but the dealership has remedied them all. I rated the comfort at 4 only because the Sport Suspension is a bit stiff, with the run flat tires, but it is NOT a complaint. The design is rated at 4 only because of the cup holders. I drove my car everyday, 70 miles round-trip to work, on wet and icy roads. The front-wheel drive is amazing! Im getting ready to sell my baby for a new one -- 2011 Mini Countryman. Cant wait!!

  • Love/Hate - 2003 Mini Cooper

I love my MINI. I hate my MINI. After doing all the research for a MINI in 2003, I thought I was making a pretty wise decision in purchasing one. My car has been in the shop about every 6 months. Im on my third battery, 3rd set of tires, Ive replaced the headlights, the door locks and window motors, and now Ive replaced the clutch at 86500 miles to the tune of $2200. Plus my power steering is going out in stop-and-go traffic. But I love driving my car. There is nothing more fun than downshifting from 5th to 3rd to zip around trucks in traffic. It handles like a dream and is an overall fun ride.

  • A Dream Come True - 2003 Mini Cooper

Never has a car grabbed my attention the way the new MINI did when it came on the market. At first, the idea of owning one was more of a dream than a real possibility. After I graduated from college, I moved home and paid off my loans. Since I was living at home, I was able to save up quite a bit for a down payment. Now my dream car is a reality, and I love it more and more every day.

  • Its a blast. - 2003 Mini Cooper

Its a blast. I had it on order since December, Picked up last of July. Paid MSRP with no dealer installed options required. Car is tight, no rattles. Everything works. Only thing available (at the time of purchase) it does not have is seat warmers. They forgot--- Handles like a go-cart with windows. Excellent fit and finish.
