This Year's Model Updates:

The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.

Pros:
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

  • Falling in love again - 2005 Mini Cooper

I have fallen in love twice in my life, once to the woman i was married to for twenty years and secondly with the most obscure yet priceless automobile. As her head lights met my eyes as i walked aross the parking lot at first glance i tried to remain a aloof but apon being introducd to her by one of the best mini cooper sales experts in Hawaii, Randy Acuba, she took my heart my breath and my money right away. I feel it so much in her debt because i give her nothing and she gives me everything performance, comfort, and i desire to run off with her on a moments whim, and motor all my cares away.

I do no like the CVT, it has have a little hersitation. I also expect better gas mileage in the city with highway 22. It uses only premium gas, which is the most expensive. However, this car is fun to drve, very good ar 70 or 80 miles per hour, very stable, has good pick up and passing ability. Id give it an eight out of ten.

Absolutly everything about owning a Mini is exciting. My 9 rating under comfort is for the lack of an armrest, but one soon becomes accustomed to that, or buys one! The car just begs to be driven around tight corners, which are frequently found in my Rocky Mountian town. It handled great even when it snowed for weeks straight this winter. The car has much more interior room that would be thought at first glance. Basically, I do not think that there is any other car on the market in this price range of such good quality!

My MINI Cooper Convertible is so much fun to drive. It surprises people who think it is a powerless compact car. It appeals to all ages. This car will probably be driven by my grandchildren, someday! My license plate says it all: MAXIFUN!

The MINI is a fun, comfortable, safe vehicle to drive. I bought mine as a surprise 50th birthday present for my wife. I cant get it away from her. Next time we need to replace a second car, its a MINI for dad.

  • Cute Sexy but not for everyone - 2005 Mini Cooper

Forever contemplated getting a brand new VS. used. Found a used on Craigslist for a reasonable price so took the plunge. Mine is a decked out Mini Cooper S convertible with all the options and JCW package (except the nav system). Quick & nimble but harsh and jolting ride (17" run flats + stiff suspension = good looks+performance but uncomfortable) While no match for a hardcore RWD sports car, it has a very good vehicle dynamics characteristics for a FWD. Neutral steer with a hint of tail-out oversteering when pushed. Overly intrusive ESP (but you can turn it off). Not recommended if this is going to be your one and only car. Not many 4 seater convertible that can match fun factor as Mini Cooper

This car is the most fun that you can have driving! Everytime that I get behind the wheel the Mini is ready to go. It handles beautifully, hugs the curves, and loves to accelerate up hills. With the top down and wind in my face- what could be better?

The car was bought for my wife. It is a solid, well build car especially considering the size. Handles and performs very well.
