Overview & Reviews
Numerous exterior and interior revisions are on tap for 2001. Also new are optional 16-inch wheels and tires, drivetrain changes for better engine smoothness, new seatbelt pre-tensioners to improve safety, and the addition of an anchorage point for attaching a child seat.
- Plenty of features and gadgets, car-like ride and handling.
- Too small for some uses, marginal overall value.

Reliable and cheap but has drawbacks - 2001 Mercury Villager
By brian174 - June 30 - 6:33 pmIve had the van for 3 years now. I bought it with 85K miles on it and have 140K now. I bought it because I got Nissan quality at Ford depreciation levels, so it was cheap. I like the Nissan engine and transmission. Only problems Ive had were the usual Ford electrical gremlins. It is a gas hog. Seating system is poorly designed. Van is noisy going down highway (wind noise mostly.) Im basically satisfied but cant figure out why this thing only gets 18-20 mpg when other bigger vans with bigger engines get 25 mpg. Its a good, cheap van, though.

Good Vehicle - 2001 Mercury Villager
By A Curry - June 2 - 8:33 pmWe purchased this van since it was being discontinued, because it is very easy to get in and out of, unlike most vans. I am a short person, with a disability from polio and this van is perfect for me to enter and exit from. I wish they had continued to make this van as it is a very good vehicle.
