  • Excellent Car!! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

This car is excellent, as everything you need to take care of it. By paying 75K for the car, doesnt mean that you dont have to care of it. I read people complaining about the car, but as in everything, the people that complain the most, are the ones who take care of things less.

  • Nightmare - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Thought this was my dream car, but it has turned out to be a nightmare! Ive had three air-compressed shocks go bad on me, each costs about $1,300 to fix, a ball joint, and a crankshaft sensor. Thank goodness I have a personal mechanic that does the work or Id probably go bankrupt soon. what else? I have a leak in the back of the car, which makes rainy days scary and the CD player is on the blink. There is no doubt that this is a beautiful car, but it seems as if I am waiting for the next thing to go wrong! This is not what I thought owning a Mercedes would be like. This is definitely the first and last Benz I am going to own, so much for my dream car. Seriously, I hope it gets better.

Beautiful car in design. Thats where the enjoyment ceases. This car is like a beautiful woman with a bad personality and poor morals. Great to look at, but once you touch it your wallet and health go south. Mercedes knew this car was a piece of trash when they built it. My car has 64,548 miles and it has managed to go through two A/C systems, CD player, window electrical problems, brakes, transmission replacement and so forth. Its fun to drive when it finally runs, but its best to keep a good wrecker service on call at all times. Mercedes lied to their customer base and myself about this car. I will never drive another one unless its a vintage 560 sel or 560 sl.

  • Jaisons review of 2000 S430 - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

This car is an escape of daily life. The Airmatic suspension provides a cloudlike ride over bumps and open highways. Having owned a 2000 S430, I have taken many long trips comfortably. However, seats are rock hard but durable for daily use. The S500 has softer Nappa seats (my choice). COMMAND occasionally gives incorrect directions but provides sense of security driving in an unknown area. Bose 10 speaker system provides deep, rich sound. This is a car anyone can enjoy. Ive enjoyed this car and will purchase again. Must have options: Xenon lights, cd- changer, Parktronic. Nice options to have: rear sunshade, reclining rear seats, multi-contour seats.

  • Im Happy - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Ive owned the following , LS400, (2) Q45s Qx4, 528e, Caddys and Lincolns. This my 7th S class Im very happy . it gets plenty of looks and so far in 8 months I put 15k miles on the car. Now Im starting to see little expensive things like transmission seals, control arms, and when we very cold days like below 28 degrees the pump for the suspension stop working.luv the sound system, but it sways a little at high speeds. Ive never driven any other car @ 130 mph. Gas mileage stinks in the city. Nevertheless I plan to buy another one when I can.

  • Mercedes Does Not Mean Quality - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Purchased my 2000 S430 as a pre-owned. It had 56,000 miles on it, and the rack & pinion had to be replaced. It also has a high rear-end gear noise between 50 and 60MPH. The driver side sun visor no longer stays in place, and I had to tape it to the roof. There is rear vibration between 60 and 80MPH, though it has new Continental tires balanced by the Mercedes dealer. An A/C sensor failed at 57,000 miles, which caused the unit to freeze up. The CD player has started locking up, though it has been cleaned.

  • BEAUTIFUL DRAMA QUEEN - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

I purchased this car used in January of 2012 with 480k miles. Now, before you think Im crazy, my reasoning was that after I test driving the car, it appeared to be mechanically sound in every way. The engine was as quiet as if it had 60k miles and the transmission shifted to perfection. Being a long time lover of Lexus, I can now appreciate the maintenance-free GS300. Since purchasing the car, Ive replaced the water pump and the pulley, along with the brakes and rotors all around. So far my air suspension has been fine, although I suspect the ball joints will need replacing soon. Despite that, Im very happy with the car. Its a joy to drive and gets a lot of attention.

  • Unfilled expections - 2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Potentially great auto. Good power, great torque, great gas milliage. The reliability of the car is terrible. It has been towed five (5) times! Three times for total failure of the compressor required to support air-suppension system. Complete transmission failure at less than 70.000 miles. (replaced under starmart extended warrenty.) "Water" in electronics module totally dissabled. Other problems: glove box replaced, GPS/Navagations system inoperative. Front passenger window oftens fails to raise.
