This Year's Model Updates:

The S350 arrives as a new entry-level S-Class model, powered by a 241-hp V6. The S600 now includes Keyless Go, an electronic trunk closer, heated steering wheel and rear side window blinds as standard equipment, while the Hands Free Communication system has moved to the options list.

Pros:
  • Elegantly appointed and spacious cabin, feels nimble for its size, state-of-the-art safety features, strong resale value.
Cons:
  • Complicated COMAND system, not as athletic as some of its competitors, a few low-grade interior materials.

  • Best Car for the Money - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Sleek lines, a real head turner on the streets. It has every ammenity in an entry level S class you will ever need. I recommend getting the sport package for that extra curb appeal ( and resale value ). Just a sweet car, inside and out!!

  • Smokes the competition - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

I bought this 06 S-65AMG around 5 months ago. I have to admit I drove everything from the quattroporte to the BMW 760 to the Bentley Continental Flying Spurt and this Benz cleans house. I have around 13k miles already and have taken about 5 road trips to Texas back to St. Louis and this car is the smoothest best handling peppy sports seadan out there. As far as speed I managed to hit 140 MPH and was it ever smooth! Consider the S-class over your average Bimmer!

The S55 AMG was the only MB car I would buy, it has everything I want, but there are some annoyances such as: 1)cooled seats are a joke 2)no touch screen NAV, current unit is out of date 3)dash gauges are boring/outdated 4)key fob remote is IR(short distance) and not radio waves, so I have to go to the drivers door in order to unlock it, then go to trunk to put items in. 5)need to find an independent mechanic, otherwise you will have a miserable time at OEM dealerships, and pay 2-3x more per repair. 6)no back up sensors as standard equip!!, This car is over engineered and exp.

  • S500 What a Great Car, an "A" grade - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The ride is velvety smooth and luxurious. I have never driven a car so comfortable, quiet, smooth shifting and excellent. The front and back have a large amount of roominess with all this comfort. It smeels of luxury. It has plenty of power, so when you want to go fast, itll do it easily. It has 3 driving settings: Comfort, Sport 1 (firm driving) and Sport 2 (more firm driving) which makes it so much more fun.

  • Never Again - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The S Class is the supposed flag ship of the Mercedes lineup. She is a beautiful car on the outside and on the inside. With great styling and decent performance for its weight. But the car is always needing repair. If its not one thing then its another. -Transmission leak first week of leasing -Airmatic suspension went out FOUR times; car was so low to the ground it had to be towed.($2500 fix) -ESP went out a couple of times ($1000 fix) List goes on but ill stop. Overall Im disappointed with the amount of money thrown at this car after what I paid for it. At the time of this post that car had lost 92% of its value. I expected more from their S class.

  • My disappointing MB S65 AMG - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

My 9th and last MB. The mechanical problems are endless. AC is noisier than ever. Shifts like a truck. I had the transmission replaced. Now I have vibrations from there. Knobs and buttons are breaking. Speedometer is a full 20% off. Obviously not the German craftsmanship found in earlier models. I went to the factory last year and was astounded to see a huge number of unskilled laborers performing "Technicians" Jobs. I am very unhappy with this vehicle. I got a Mercedes LEMON.

  • 2006 S350 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Purchased this one two months ago with 51,000 miles on it. Was looking at a S430 also, but now glad I purchased the S350. I didnt buy the car to race and the 3.5L engine is more than adequate to power this vehicle. It doesnt have all of the gadgets the S430 has, but then there are less gadgets to fail later on. Comfort and quality are all a Mercedes should be. This is by far the best driving Mercedes I have owned (my twelfth one). I thought my 1985 500SEC (Euro) was nice and my 1994 E420 was great, but this beats them hands down.

After owning 3 Lexus Sedans, ready for a change. S350 stood out with athletic performance and spacious interior. BMW and Lexus trying to get to sleek, losing functional space. Firm ride, great sound system. Command system is ok, not too hard to learn. Plenty of power in 350 model.

  • Overall ownership - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

We enjoy driving this one very much as comparison with our 99 E320. It rides very well, very quite, good sound system. We compared it with Lexus and BMW before making decision on this one, one of the reasons is the price. I do have a complaint about the storage compartment between the front seats, the small one on passenger side is almost useless.

  • Review of an S55 AMG - 2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The car is very smooth and accelerates rapidly. At high speedon the highway, I could not hear the engine sound nor the wind outside. Comfortable and spacious. Takes sharp corners easily. I would recommend this car to any one looking for a luxurious ride and all around comfort!
