This Year's Model Updates:

The CLS is an all-new sedan in Mercedes' lineup for 2006.

Pros:
  • Sharp and sexy exterior design, handles like a much smaller car, smooth V8.
Cons:
  • Sleek lines make getting in back a little awkward, complicated control interface.

Love the design, especially with AMG package. Very good acceleration and handling. Mercedes could have added the self-closing doors as in the S Class but otherwise a solid and quiet car. Navigation system much improved. Keyless Go is exciting. Have not had it out on the highway yet but look forward to an improved ride over the E Class.

The 2006 Mercedes is a true breakthrough automobile. In design, comfort and performance , the CLS 500 has broken some very exciting new ground. It drives like a sports car, has the comfort of a much larger model, and performs admirably in all driving situations. The rear seating area is actually quite comfortable. The only limitation is slope of the rear roof line does make entereing the rear comprtment more of a challenge than in other 4-door sedan models.s The interior is not quite up to the standards of Mercedes, butit is acceptable. I would recommend the vehicle to anyone interested in a unique driving experience. It is an excellent addition to the Mercedes line.

  • Great car but... - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Great headturner, and we love everything about it, but it has been in the repair shop 8 out of the 45 days we have owned the car. Mercedes customer service, when they answer the phone timely, has been poor and disapointing. I hope customer service gets new phone lines and Mercedes gets the bugs out of the car.

  • No "S" Class - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Having traded an S class for the CLS, I have to tell you I am very happy. No discernable difference in comfort in the front seats, but a big difference in the performance and handling. I have had many unsolicted compliments on the styling of the car. This one is a real winner. I just cannot figure out why I do not see more CLS 500s on the road.

This is the best production car ever made. The AMG handles with precision. The car enters the highway as a car should, with good power. The interior of the car is very comfortable. It is trimmed in suede and leather. On long hauls it makes the trip memorable.

  • Best car for the money - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

I go through new cars every 6 months; this car might end up being my last one for a long time. I enjoy driving this more than all the other high end cars Ive ever owned. I just recently traded an 05 BMW M3 conv for this and Im thrilled I did. It has more guts than I expected and drives better than any other car Ive owned. (except for my BMW 745IL which was delclared a lemon) had that for 3 months. I get so many compliments on the style of this car its unbelievable. Nothing else looks like it and Mercedes didnt duplicate it and make copies of different versions to beef up their sales like other manufactures did. The interior is tight for a larger person but being 58" its perfect!

  • WOW!!! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

I was a bit apprehensive about buying a car its first year out, but there was a magnetism in this car that was irrestible. The sleek flowing lines literally drew me closer and as I heard the engine come to life under the hood as my salesman turned the key. It was as if this beautiful beast whispered to me, "COME AND TAKE ME NOW!" The seat hugged me as I sat in complete control cornering on the on-ramp to I-88 from Butterfield. The acceleration was a nice feel of torque and there was NO lag between the accelerator press and the engine response. I am in love.

  • A beauty! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

I have been enjoying my CLS for the past 5 months. What a head turner! Great looks. Great performance. So unique!

  • Great Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

This car is really a great one. It has unbelievable power, it is extremely comfortable, the car handles like a sports car. The drive dynamics seats are very unique. The functionality of the dash is great. I was on a waiting list for nine months in order to obtain this car and it exceeded all of my expectations. I have owned high end Mercedes and BMWs in the past but this car is a very special and unique vehicle.

  • So Disappointed - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

I fell in love with this car the minute I walked into the Mercedes showroom. I was planning on purchasing a BMW 6 series, but was persuaded by the sheer breathtaking beauty of the CLS. Worst decision of my life. The wheels have had to be repaired 6 times due to "potholes" per Mercedes. The problem is in the suspension, which cannot even handle a small bump in the road. I have had to replace the tires at 7000 miles due to "potholes" per Mercedes. Purchasing this car is like dating the prom queen, which is exhilirating in the beginning, but soon you realize she will only drain your pocketbook. Do not buy this car.
