This Year's Model Updates:

The CLS is an all-new sedan in Mercedes' lineup for 2006.

Pros:
  • Sharp and sexy exterior design, handles like a much smaller car, smooth V8.
Cons:
  • Sleek lines make getting in back a little awkward, complicated control interface.

  • Very impressed so far - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

My last two cars have been BMWs, but I was turned off by the I-drive and wanted something new. I was captivated by the styling of this car, which is a depature from the norm for Mercedes. The fit and finish on the car are quite good and it handles like a dream. I was sold the minute I drove the car. Edmunds found the control interface to be "complicated," but it is far better than the I-drive from BMW. My only complaint is the lack of headroom. I am just six feet tall, but I have very little headroom in the front seats of the car. I am somewhat concerned about Mercedes recent reputation for poor reliability, but only time will tell on that point.

This car blends the proven handling and performance of the highly rated E class (with airmatic) with superior interior appointments. I love the drive and enjoy the styling. Its roomier than it appears and has ample trunk space. The 7 gear transmission is a dream.

  • Can I be Dreaming ? - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Ive had my CLS-55 for three months now. Prior to it I drove an E-55 for five years. The new supercharged CLS- 55 engine with tighter suspension is a superior ride to the E-55. The Harmon Kardon stereo system is OK, but not the best. The manual shift mechanism on the steering column makes city driving a blast again. I must say that everytime I get in this car, it puts me in another world allowing me to temporarily believe that its also Camelot on the outside. The combination of horsepower/torque on this car is what makes it so fun to be in. When I first got it, I was constantly going for the brakes because I was approaching the vehicle in front quicker than anticipated. Cest la vie !!

  • This car deserves a serious look - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Having a bad experience with high-line Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the past 6 years, I was reluctant to even LOOK at this car; however its exterior styling is so compelling that it lured me in. Once in the cockpit, I was warmed by the comfort and ambiance of the interior layout, and thrilled at the throaty exhaust note. The car handles well, accelerates with exhiliration, and overall satisfies an enthusiasts lust for power and speed. It falls short on standard features for its lofty price, forsaking such things as the COMAND and navigation system, relegating them to the option list. Additionally, the paint is not up to M- B standards; too much orange-peel in the surface. Still, a good choice.

  • Bye Bye Porsche - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Traded in my 2002 911 for something a little more "family friendly", but with some pizzazz. Couldnt be happier. I love the comfort, the styling, and the performance. It looks like its going 80mph while still in park. It just is everything I wanted in a car.

  • Sleekest looking sedan on road - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Having recently owned an 03 SL500, an05 CLK55 Cabriolet, and having an 03E320 in the garage, I rate this new model just what I have been dreaming of. Handling, acceleration, interior stereo, rakish looks, and so on! I also owned 2 CL500s and this is such a perfect follow-through.

  • Great 2nd owner car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class
    By -

I purchased this car as a certified preowned car with 24000 miles on it. I have read other owners concerns which I assume have all been addressed during the initial ownership. I have had a fantastic experience with an essentially brand new car for the past 4 mos. Definitely a drivers dream but a pleasure to travel in for 3 other passengers. Slightly challenging to get in and out of but a pleasure to own.

Standard of excelence that exceeds all expectations of comfort, design, and performance. Its muscle car performance will make a "hole" in the wind.

  • One Nice Benz - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

If you are a Benz fan this car is a must have. Sporty, yet classy. It turns a lot of heads and gets plenty of questions asked about it. The V8 gives you more than enough power. Its very fun to drive, and worth the money paid for it.
