Not a lot of buck, but a lot of bang - 2003 Mazda Protege
By brb588 - May 16 - 2:00 amI totalled my previous car (02 Chevy Tracker) and was looking for a gently used car/SUV. I originally wanted a Honda CR-V, but it was way out of my price range. Thank God I looked at the 03 Protegé. It had about 11K miles, and I test drove it along side a brand new one, and they both drove excellently. The thick steering wheel and peppy engine were immediately noticable. Everything was nicely laid out, the seats were comfortable, and the car was rather attractive for its low price. I have had it for a month, and I simply love it. Forget a Civic, get a Protegé!

Excellent ES 5 Speed - 2002 Mazda Protege
By ProES02 - May 14 - 10:00 amA very solidly built and very fun to drive.I test drove the Civic,Corolla,Sentra and Elantra GT but went back to the Protege ES because of the classy styling and excellent handling not found on the others. Also, with more standard equipment and the available ABS/Side Air bag/Moonroof option makes it a great deal.

My Protege - 2001 Mazda Protege
By MedinaC29 - May 9 - 8:23 amI love this car. I bought it used with 48,000 mi. Now it has 115,100 mi. It is so great on gas and now with gas prices being almost $4.00 I am not feeling as much pain as others. Ive had minor problems, unexpected issues but other than that I am satisfied with it. Ive added a couple of different things to it like, a spoiler, euro carbon fiber tail lights, wind visors, tinted windows etc. I also replaced the radio because the factory radio was messing up on me big time. You would press clock and it would show the CD track # and vice versa. So I replaced it. Just recently got a new paint job and it looks even better!

I got a pair of 2000 Mazda Protege ESs - 2000 Mazda Protege
By Protegextwo - April 27 - 10:00 amI purchased two PRO-ES in March of 2000. Both cars have 53,750+ miles and I have to say they are excellent cars. Very good in the snow and rain. The point and shoot handling is top box for a small sedan. A hoot to drive on the twistys. The Mazda Protege is truly a larger 4-door Miata! Corolla and Civic are for the masses, however the Protege is for those in the know. God Bless Mazda, Zoom Zoom.....

I would do it again - 2003 Mazda Protege
By dsr1sdj - April 21 - 10:00 amI needed a replacement vehicle for the company car that was removed from me as part of a cost reduction. I have just under 5000 miles on the car currently with no problems to date ... I drove ALL competitive compact vehicles , yes I said all Toyota, Honda,Nissan,Ford,Chevy,Saturn,Mitsubis hi..Any way this Mazda was by far the best driving of all the cars I drove..Best handling and acceleration.least amount of noise at freeway speeds. Overall a pleasure to drive for a compact car.

Zoom Zoom - 2003 Mazda Protege
By Johnnie - April 3 - 2:00 amBought my protege with the year end incentives. Couldnt resist the Zero percent financing. Drove the Civic, Focus, Corolla...but they were not as fun to drive. The Mazda doesnt get as good of gas mileage... but its way fun to drive.

This car rocks - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Anna Rudowski - April 2 - 10:00 amThe Mazda Protege is only second to one vehicle that I have driven before it. That vehicle would be a BMW 3 series. Other than that, this is the most fun car I have ever driven. The 5 spd manual transmission is easy and comfortable to drive. The price was also amazing. I would have easily paid much more money for this car, and it would have been worth it.

fun and functional - 2003 Mazda Protege
By alan4491 - March 20 - 2:00 amlooked at other cars in its class (civic, corolla, lancer), but this was the best value w/ options i got (auto, abs w/ side airbags) . . . cool alloys and dual front airbags are std. on LX. great for commuting to work and large enough for my growing family (4 so far).
