Overview & Reviews
The completely redesigned 2009 Mazda 6 boasts upsized dimensions and powertrains that put it on par with segment leaders, yet it largely retains its distinctive fun-to-drive character.
- Roomy cabin, big trunk, muscular performance from V6, smooth automatic transmissions, relatively sporty handling.
- Mediocre fuel economy, some cheap interior materials, not as much "zoom-zoom" as enthusiasts might like.

Really decent vehicle - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By realitycheck1 - July 19 - 7:41 pmExterior design is very attractive. Excellent handling, good pickup from the 4cyl engine. Could be better on the fuel economy but not too bad. Ride is well controlled but it can be a bit busy. Decent room inside, good design to the dash board. Interior quality is a mixed bag. Some parts of the dash and doors are very high end but other parts are cheap feeling. Leather quality is decent, if a little stiff feeling, but it smells good though. Xenon lighting is excellent. I would suggest this car for those who like spirited driving, if you drive it softly it may leave you a bit cold.

Excellent!! Top of the lot - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By reddy - July 10 - 10:16 amThis car wins the competition amongst camry, accord, etc. The new 2009 mazda doesnt lose out on what youd expect from a traditional sedan (lots of space, loads of features...blows away the competition, fuel mileage, etc). Add to this the fun factor of driving this car, it blows all other cars in this segment out the water. Its the best buy for the money in this segment. Im really enjoying driving my car.

Great Car!! - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By ScottyB - June 2 - 4:26 amI purchased on 7/26/09, so I have owned the car for just over 2 months. This car provides luxury features, fun driving, and very good fuel economy at a reasonable price. I have a 50 mile round trip commute that is mostly highway. At 65-70 mph, I average 28-30 mpg. I think it could do even better if it was geared a bit higher. The gear ratios in the 6M are a bit close. I usually skip 3rd and 5th gears. The engine has plenty of torque to handle the short shifting. The engine really comes alive above 3,500 RPM. The car rides extremely well and handles well...a great balance. It is a bit noisy over rough pavement, but so is every car in this price range. Overall, I am very pleased.

wifeys 2nd mazda 6 - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By dailydrivernc - May 23 - 5:28 amive been reading reviews of suvs on here thinking of trading our 6. after reading about the issues with the arcadia i thought id check out reviews for the car i already own. these 6s rank high and i thought id put in my 2cents. our 6 has push button start, roof, all options but nav and leather. telescopic steering is nice. fastest 4cyl ive ever drove. 34mpg @65mph, city mid 20s. back seat room is largest and most leg room ive seen. fit and finish is nice but plastic on windsheild pillars starting to warp at just 36k miles, and we park in a garage. guess in the sun at work during the day is taking its toll. traded a hybrid civic on this, 6 has +pwr,+room, and almost same mpg

Very Nice for the Price - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By Dub75 - May 9 - 12:23 pmI purchased my 2009 Mazda6 in November of 08. I traded an 06 Mazda 6 V6. I never thought I would own a Mazda but after having owned two I am a loyal customer. The only problems thus far with the car is the stripping around my windshield just above the dash has melted from the Texas heat. I took the car into the dealership and the service manager informed me they would have to take my dash out to replace the stripping. He advised not to do this because it may have rattles in the dash after re-installing. I am questioning the A/C. It sometimes doesnt seem to cool properly. My previous 6 had A/C issues. Hope this one is not the same. All in all it is a very nice car for the price.

most stylish sedan around - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By mtaylor - May 8 - 2:00 amMoved up from a Mazda3, and am very impressed with how smooth and quiet the car is. Exterior styling is edgy without being too trendy and should hold up well over the years. Interior styling is simple and elegant, and mostly very high quality (but whats up with the thin vinyl on the armrest and the Buick velour on the door panels??). On a 500 mile trip I averaged 34mpg in mostly rural driving at 60-65mph with a good bit of stop- and-go intown driving, and have been averaging about 27mpg around town. Pretty awesome for such a big car. I love that the car looks big, but drives like a much smaller car. The ride is firm, but very compliant, a near perfect balance of handling and ride comfort.

zoom zoom - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By wisconsinzoomzoom - May 2 - 6:30 amI love this car! I am in my car at least 10 hours a week and I often have a car full of people. Its fun, and safe, to drive. Backseat riders have tons of space. We bought this car new almost two years ago and still love it. The sound system is great (we have the Bose system) and we love the over look of the car. And it handles great in snowy, crummy weather.

Fun Fun with the Zoom Zoom - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By Rob C - April 25 - 11:36 pmMe and the wife have an older 6 (2003 6i Sport) that is getting a little long in the tooth. She was looking at a Lexus IS but I persuaded her to look at this new 6. We do not regret this purchase! It is powerful, comfortable, roomy, and is a looker inside and out. We bought a fully loaded performance white 6s with moonroof, Bose, satellite radio and navi, and is worth every penny. It is a blast to drive, smooth and effortless power delivery out of the 6 cyl and 6 speed auto. The seats are firm but comfortable, the sound system can rattle the doors off if you like, and the trunk is huge. This is supposed to be my wifes car, but I find myself hogging the drivers seat, ha!

Class Leader - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
By Jeff - April 3 - 5:03 amI bought a loaded up Mazda6 for my wife to get her hands-free in heavy traffic. What can I say? This is a great looking, nice handling car thats has a decent ride and is relatively quiet. It really is very Lexus-like in many aspects. We drove this after driving comparable Altimas and Accords and this was the winner, hands down. This was the best combination of ride, handling and comfort by a wide margin. All the magazines may be raving about the new Accord, but this is the new class leader in my book.
