My criteria was a midsize sedan with high MPG, and very fun to drive. This car is fantastic. I get 28 MPG driving around and 32 MPG on a trip. The performance is great above 3,000 RPM. The car is also very quiet inside. I have never seen an oil filter like this! The 4 cyl has a housing where you replace the paper filter media. This media is hard to find and many places cannot perform an oil change because they do not have an oil filter.

I love this vehicle. I have a child on the way, and my husband and I were looking for a family vehicle. I am still young enough that I cant see myself driving a minivan or station wagon or even a full-size car. The Mazda 6 is perfect. It is still sporty yet gives us the room we need will a growing family. Who says moms cant drive cool cars?

I bought this car to replace a Miata lost to Katrina. I absolutely love it! This is my 11th Mazda. Have only had to do oil and other fluid changes, and put a set of tires on it at 50K. I swapped the noisy Michelins for Riken Raptors and it handles as if on rails. I use it to haul my kayaks, and it performs well loaded down with two 14 foot ocean kayaks

  • Fun little car! - 2004 Mazda Mazda6

I must confess that I got my 6 with the 5 speed auto. It is still a fun car. The V6 is very smooth but will start barking at about 4,000rpm. The car is fairly linear through the turns with great steering feel the whole way. The transmission has a tendency to hunt for gears. In two years I have done nothing more than routine maintenance every 6 months - a dream compared to my last car. I still have not gotten over how pretty this car is inside and out. With the hatchback design it swallows everything we need to carry. Gas mileage! It is rated at 19/26, but in mixed driving I never seem to do better than 18 or 19. Interior is comfortable but wind noise is abundant. Opt for the Bose!

I have 8400 miles on 6i w/auto. No problems at all. Well built, comfortable and economical. Red w/alloy wheels, no other extras. Trip to Canada with only 1100 miles on car, biggest problem is car is so smooth and quiet that you find yourself doing 80-90 without realizing it. Excellent exterior styling, well thought out interior with lots of nice standard features. Excellent HVAC.

I compared the Acura TL, IS300, G35, Passat, and others before making the Mazda my choice. I was dead set on a V-6 so the S model was the only choice, too bad I didnt know gas would rocket up! After looking at all the comps, and for the price, the Mazda was the best choice in bang for the buck. I commuted and wanted something with some zip (or Zoom Zoom), the reason for the v-6 and just couldnt bring myself to pay the extra $10K for a TL, IS300, or G35. I got it all in a Mazda. I think Mazda is the sleeper; in 2004 when I bought my car you just didnt see that many Mazdas. So 27000 miles later, I still like my car, nothing is broken except for the wallet for owning the V-6. Its still fun!

I like my mazda because its has a nice design, an amazing amount of space, and its a nice ride. I was also impressed at how nice the car was a really reasonable price. However it has not always been a very reliable car. At only 3000KM the fuel pump died and I didnt have a car for 2 months because the part was on back order in Japan. Then at 15000KM I had break problems and the break clips had to be replaced. Then last week at 58000KM the transmission died. My lease is up in appox 9 months and because of all the reliabilty problems I probably wont buy a mazda again.

I love this car. It was a toss up between the TSX and the 6. I couldnt take the hassle with the hard to come by TSX and the 6 was more bang for the buck. It has a lot more room, especially in the trunk. Perfect for the family I hope to have soon.

  • great price, great car - 2004 Mazda Mazda6

Im very happy with the car, though the gas mileage has been far less than the epa tested (the only major issue with the car, probably would not be an issue to me without the high gas prices). The only quality issue so far is a rattle in the rear hatch which the dealer promptly fixed.

  • Love that 6! - 2004 Mazda Mazda6

I have been driving my 6 for 2 months now. I love the design and form of the car. 20 more hp would not have hurt, but all-in-all it is the most pleasant riding, sports sedan I have owned yet. When the engine idles, it is so smooth you cannot tell it is running. The BOSE audio system is top notch, and the climate control works rapidly and efficiently.
