This Year's Model Updates:

New hatchback and wagon body styles were added to the lineup at the end of 2004 and carry over unchanged for 2005. The optional automatic transmission on all V6 models has been upgraded from a five-speed to a six-speed unit.

Pros:
  • More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.
Cons:

Here is a car that you want to drive. Sporty handling with a sedan comfort. Good value for the money.

After driving a Camaro Z28 and various sportbikes I am shocked to see that a family-hauler can handle this well. Smooth (manual) shifter. The front wheel drive is a little disappointing and theres virtually no torque below 3000RPM but all in all it is an excellent package at a very good price. Dealers are willing to let it go several thousands less MSRP (mine was about MSRP-$8000 - what a steal!). Highly recommended if you dont absolutely need RWD.

Excellent finish and fit. Built by the UAW which proves that great cars can be built by union labor. My 6th Mazda and the best yet. Very quick and very responsive. Solid feel without feeling heavy. Flat cornering. Silky smooth manual with short throw clutch. Attention to details. Very techno without being gadgety. Easy to learn. Keeps the fun in driving. Zoom. Ive had Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans and various American cars. This is the best car Ive ever owned. I bought one for my wife too. My Mazda came fully loaded with leather, 6 CD in dash, heated seats, moonroof, wing, ABS and traction control. It is fast, great- looking, deceptively roomy and has a great sound system. The 17" wheels hold the road like a train on a track. The 6 speed auto is a blast to manually shift. I come from the muscle car era and my wife only drives automatics. If you are looking for the best blend of a family car and a sports car at a great price, look no further. The 5 year 50K mile bumper to bumper with free roadside assistance is icing on the cake. Zoom! Zoom!

Just Love It. Fun to drive, speedy little car. Traded in my Mustang Cobra for it, because now I have a family, just as much fun to drive without sacrificing style and fun.

Engine is a little soft off the line. Need refinement. Needs lots of gas to get going from a stop for good speeds. Highway passing requires a greater distance than my other cars. Smaller than I would like. Otherwise, it is a pleasant little car.

I brought a Madza, V6, with 60,000 mi, a month ago. Someone just hit me this weekend and cracked the back fender and wheelwell. So far, Im very happy with this sporty, stylish car. It gets a lot of compliments. The car is bright red with 17" alloy wheels. The engine is very quiet. I can barely hear it while I drive. The car is fast too. The V6 is suppose to have 220 HP. Once I test drove it, I decided to buy it. I do have one issue with the car. Its hard to see out the back window, and the blindside on the passengers side is bad. Its hard to see if there are cars on my right side. I have to be more careful when I parallel park. Other than that, the Madza is a good car.

Four months new and under 3K miles, so not enough info on mechanics, etc. I do a LOT of errands and have some things I love and HATE, namely: shifter - "sporty" automatic zig-zag maze made like a manual. Having carpal tunnel and shifting 10x or more a day between PRD absolutely kills the hand/wrist. Pickup: extremely slow and extremely jerky, and I mean with a pronounced jerk when stepping on gas. A full 1-1 1/2 seconds to kick in, which makes it useless to dangerous when passing and power/speed is needed. Test drove 20 minutes or so but never noticed the bad pickup, and shifting wasnt done as many times as would be done in a normal day, so it wasnt noticed. HATE radio volume depending on speed!

I compared the 6s to the VW Passat/Jetta, Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The Mazda gives up some power to the Altima and Accord, but the driving dynamics more than make up for it. Great seats (mine has the LX heated leather seats), responsive steering, crisp handling with a firm, smooth ride - all wrapped up in a sportier exterior made the choice an easy one. For my money, the combination of sportiness, safety features, driving dynamics, and comfort make the Mazda 6 a winner.

  • Buy this car! - 2005 Mazda Mazda6

This is my first Mazda I have ever owned. What a fantastic car. I looked at a lot of other vehicles such as the Passat and Audi A4. I kept coming back to this one. The handling, performance, price and fuel economy made it a hard deal to pass up. The wagon has a ton of room for hauling around just about anything. This car is one of the few that needs little improvement. Buy it and you wont regret it.
