Overview & Reviews
New hatchback and wagon body styles are scheduled as midyear additions. Minor adjustments to the 6's optional equipment packages are the only other changes for 2004.
- More fun to drive than most family sedans, slick shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

diy Mazda 6s 5spd owner - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By maz6s - December 14 - 6:21 pmSince 07, my 04 6s(v6) has been strong. I bought it at ~60,000 miles. All maintenance done early except the spark plugs. Dont drive too long with a misfire/vacuum leak/hesitation. Lucky I had knowledge of precat failure prevention so I didnt find out the hard way like others...keep an eye on fluid level and color esp oil. Since about 90-100,000 miles I noticed the oil level drops a lil every 1500 miles which is normal on most vehicles. Dont trust oil change places, they only pour 5qts in, but this engine takes 6...oh and Honda seekers dont buy Automatic Accords, my wifes tranny died@100,000 miles...fluid drained and filled every 10,000 miles since 40,000 miles. 2004 Accord EX V6. Thx

Great car for $$$ - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By G - July 4 - 6:00 amFor the $$$ you cant beat. Plus, it has unique style that sets it apart from camrys, accords, and other mass- produced 4 doors that old people drive. Power is only good up top so you need to keep it there if you want to have fun. Handling is excellent - I owned a 91 300ZX and this handles just as good. Interior style is good, though quality of materials is lacking. This is my third MAZDA - I will definitely purchase again. They seem to be the only manufacturer that can put all of the right peices together in one package. Not necessarily the best in any one category, but I feel it is best all- around.

Denmark - Actually 2.0 liter - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By Gutterman - June 25 - 10:00 amGreat car in Denmark. Has good pickup for a 2.0 liters 141 hp. and thats pretty good for a European car. Nice interior (alcantara like). Mine is Sparkling silver which is a pretty nice mix between silver and golden, it actually changes color depending on the weather. When its dark the color is more silver and when its sunny the color is more golden. It has the standard CD and no-name speakers which sound pretty nice. You have to understand that all car prices in Denmark cost "the price of the car" plus 180% tax, so all extras cost a fortune. I used to have an Opel vectra 1.6 liter and this is a step up, although I feel that some of the parts are a little cheap.

pretty nice car - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By phishhead - May 29 - 2:00 amThis is a graet car for the money. It has many nice features not offered on many cars in this class. The 6 cylinder engine cound use more torque, its a bit slow off the line. The exterior design is wonderful. The inside is also beautiful.

Disappointed... - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By B Raymond - March 31 - 10:13 pmBought this car used with 20,000 mi. LOVED this car, how it drove how it looked, the amount of room. But after about a year every few months we had to replace something: the clutch, the shocks, tires (2x), and air box system. Finally the engine in the car blew due to a cracked seal that caused the oil to leak dry(the oil was changed every 3000 mi). the carpeting is coming off in the cabin area and the drivers side speaker goes in and out. So we are getting rid of the car (after taking a huge hit on the loan) and never buying another mazda.

Great Car - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By Nate W. - March 14 - 4:26 amThis car is great. There were some problem when we first got it, it had to go back to the dealer 3 times due to computer problems. It was all under warranty and rental fees were covered by the dealer. Its a great car, very sporty. Get the V6 if you can, the added power is worth it. The interior build quality is great, there arent a lot of hard plastics, it feels more expensive than it is with the leather wrapped steering wheel, and shift knob. Manumatic is a fun manual override without a clutch for the auto enthusiast; it significantly give the car more of a boost off the line, and when driving.

Great Midsize Value - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
By frogmanhenry - January 10 - 10:00 amThis car has certainly impressed me with its level of refinement for paying just a little more than $18,000 with 0% interest. The chasis and suspension are superb, making highway cruising quite and comfortable and back road twisties a real joy. The clutch and shifter work well, although there is a little too much clutch travel for my liking. Fit and finish seem to be excellent inside and out. The new for 2004 2.3L 4 cyl. engine is smooth, responsive, and turns in respectable gas milage (29-30 mpg mixed driving) I opted for the sport package in sepang green with Bose audio system.
