  • Should have thought twice - 2004 Mazda Mazda6

The 6s is a blast to drive, but the quality isnt very good. I have under 6000 miles on the car and have had to have the dash board, the steering column, the center console, the radio, and the defroster replaced. The problem has come back among other terrible rattles in the back of the car along with problems the technicians caused. Other than the poor quality the car drives great, just crank up the tunes and try to zone out all the rattles. The body of the 6 is awesome with the sports grille and body kits you can get. If I had to do it again I would have gone with the accord or tsx.

  • 2004 6S - fun, but too many problems - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Love the exterior of 6s and owned 3 other Mazdas. The 6S is less than expected Mazda quality -- less than 1 year/12kms; blinker connection loose, pulled transmission to replace defective clutch disc, replaced defective windshield, fluttler noise when heater turns on - dealer cant fix it, recall on leaky emission, wire falling in leather seats, engine valves noisey, dealer tightened left front noisy axle. Turning radius is WIDE, gas mileage is terrible, Stick is loud when shifting gears, good brakes, good sound system, fun to drive - good pickup and handling. Should provide option for leather package without seat warmers - not needed in south.

  • Lemon - 2004 Mazda Mazda6

I bought my fun to drive, eye appealing Mazda6 in early 2003,but Im very upset and disappointed with the mechanical build quality of my Mazda6. Ive owned this yellow "lemon" for 1 year and its been at the dealer several times. Let me enlighten everyone with a little history. Ive taken the lemon to the dealer on three diffrent occassions for coolant leaks (repairs made to diffrent areas in the cooling system), knock sensor (replaced) and not to mention the factory recalls within this past year.

Rotten egg smell all the time. Filed lemon law. Mazda dealer replaced all four cats. Still stinks. Tried different gas. No difference. Getting rid of this machine. Mazda not cooperating.

  • Great Car but dont buy one - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Purchased a new 04 less than 2 years ago. Loved the car for the price until clutch started to judder so bad car was not drivable. Mazda TSB 05-003/05 describes defective clutch plates. Mazda will not cover repair because car is more than 1 year old. Dont be left holding a $1300 repair bill for a defective car. Buy a Honda.

  • beautiful car piss poor reliability - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

I bought this car 2 months ago for $3000 at an auction with 196000km on it, or about 129k miles. There oil kept disappearing quickly and I didnt know where it was going. After about $2000 in repairs and getting some tires and rims, I find out that the cars engine is through. It was burning oil rapidly, the reason for that was the piston rings being worn out, and the reason for piston rings being worn out was the catalytic converter melting and blocking the exhaust creating excessive back pressure. Not to mention the EGR valve recirulating exhaust gases as well as other particles into the engine which also screwed the engine over. Very piss poor design by mazda.

  • Poor Factory Workmanship, Fit & Finish - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Poor fit & finish, hood, bumper cover, fenders & front end accessories are out of alignment & a bent door. A loose windshield gasket and a rattle in the dash. I looked at Mazda6 cars on 3 dealer lots, each exhibiting similar poor exterior workmanship. I complained to both the dealer and Mazda corporate, all to no avail. Ignored for nearly 120 days, the Mazda factory rep finally told me that the poor workmanship "meets the factory standard." & that the bent door "may be" my fault. Examine your Mazda6, & note the hood & bumper cover alignment & the hoods over hang. I expected acknowledgement & timely service. I should have bought the Altima!

  • So good, but so bad... - 2004 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

I thought for a while before I wrote this. And I think my title describes my 6s perfectly. It really is all good, and all bad. Great to drive, sharp looking, so much more exciting than an Accord/Camry type. But Ive experienced horrible reliability problems from day one. Brakes replaced twice. CD player not working. Engine fan. Power locks. Etc. I havent even begun to describe the horrible build quality--rattles in the dashboard, drivers seat, passengers seat, sunroof, headliner, glove box. I used to own a VW Jetta, and joked that it was like a beautiful girlfriend who treated you like dirt--you cared and cared, and it never cared back. My 6 is just as bad. Ill never buy a Mazda again.
