Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

  • This Car is Great! - 2006 Mazda Mazda3

The Mazda 3 is a wonderful car. I was looking to purchase either the Mazda 3 or a Honda Civic. After testing both, there was no comparison. I got a 2006 Mazda 3 S Touring edition with 5 speed automatic transmission. I also decided to get the moon-roof/CD package which is well worth the extra dollars if you can afford it. The gas mileage has been great. Im averaging right around 30 miles per gallon. This car is so much fun to drive no matter if you are on back-roads with no traffic, on the highway, or sitting in gridlock. The response time is very quick and the suspension is superb. Its neat to see other people turning their heads to look at my car.

Smart design, spirited performance, and great price. This car hits the trifecta. One would be hard pressed to find a car that is as fun to drive and as easy on the eyes for the same money.

Traded my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with 200k on it. Great car and it got me 30mpg! The only reason I got the Mazda3 sedan was for the 39mpg (manual trans). So far, with 3k miles, I have been avg 38.2. Thats better than my last car but... Pros: when in the right gear, it has some get up and go (for a 4cycl) Bluetooth is great. Works very well with iphone, hands free calls that are voice controlled are great, and streaming music. Handles well, seems sporty Of course the MPG is the real sell. Cons: the seats are horrible! I commute 1hr20min each way every day. 78miles each way every day adds up. This is a huge deal for me. The savings in gas is great but the seats suck!

Ive managed to put nearly 5000 miles on this car in the three months Ive owned it - its just that much fun to drive. I have the fully-loaded (navigation, leather seats, AFS headlamps, etc.) model - and my girlfriend thinks that its hilarious that I literally smile and go "I love this car" every time I push the button and turn it on. Its a winner in every sense - and beats that "other 3-series" car on price, features, and...well, everything.

I have not been very happy with this car. It does not get the gas mileage the sticker on the window said it would and I feel it is very poorly built. I believe they used cheap products to built this car. Everything from the paint on the outside to the carpet on the inside. Dont get me wrong; I think it is a very stylish car and it is fun to drive. But I would not recommend it to anyone.

Sold SUV because of gas prices and got a 2008 Mazda 3 i Touring Value Edition. Excellent car especially for the money. I got a copper red mica color, 5 spd, 17" wheels, foglights, one touch moonroof, 6 disc w/ auxiliary input and excellent sound, power windows and keyless remote, soft touch plastics and good interior feel, and neat interior illumination. I have had it for about 2 weeks and cant wait to get in it every time. First time I got 29.92 mpg with the 2.0 5-speed but that was mixed driving. Only city, I get about 24 or 25. After comparing to the Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic respectively, this was definitely the best choice

  • The BEST Car Ever - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

I bought my lava orange hatchback back in January 2004. I love the fact that I was one of the first and few owners. Its fun to look for other Mazda3-ers on the road. (Always HONK & WAVE when you spot one...Its a 3-thing) This is the best car Ive ever had and Im hooked for life. My family bought a Mazda 323 back in 1982 - worst mistake ever. So, I was a bit worried until I saw the new 6s and now, the 3s. Im a Mazda-gal for life! Even after 7 months - I feel like Im driving it for the first time. Its wicked fun!

I love this car, we have two children in car seats and there is still enough room for a smaller person to sit between them and being able to take out the back flap over the cargo area gives you way more room than I thought possible.
