Overview & Reviews
The Mazda 3 is an all-new economy sedan and hatchback that replaces the Protege in Mazda's lineup.
- Fun-to-drive character, stylish interior design, strong engines, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be too stiff for some, a few ergonomic quirks, tight rear legroom.

Love My Mazda 3! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Martha Ramsey - February 21 - 10:56 amThis is my first Mazda, and it will not be my last! I love everything about the Mazda 3, from the sporty design, to the roominess Mazda has built into such a compact car, to the great sound system that includes an in-dash 6 CD player, to the huge trunk, to the excellent gas mileage. Im getting 38-39 mpg on standard, everyday trips to and from work. On long trips I have averaged 42-45 mpg! If you are looking for a sporty, fun-to-drive economy car that has a great sound system and gets great gas mileage, this is the car for you.

Compact....??? I say its a sport. - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Guto - February 16 - 2:00 amI’ve spent about 3 months looking for a compact. What I found? Good cars, reasonable prices, and a total lack of attention to the small segment of cars. Mazda certainly created another concept for compact cars. I bought an M 3i sedan with power package, ac, sport/auto transmission and it is worthy everything single penny I spent. It is incredible to drive; it has an amazing design (exterior and interior), and an engine that needs no comments. The car is unquestionably the best in its segment

A fabulous car! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Silvio Sfumata - February 9 - 2:00 amI just drove one of these today and fell in love with it instantly. Have you ever driven an Austin Healy 3000? This feels very similar and responds as well. The car steers like a sportscar and has a great crisp sound between 4000 and 6000 rpm. Acceleration is enough to make you smile. There is a small flat spot below 4000 rpm, but it doesnt last long and doesnt even enter into the equation if you know how to drive. It comes with many extras as standard. Some magazines compare this with other foreign cars, but to me there is no similarity.

Fun! Fun! Fun! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By KimH - February 6 - 5:03 amJust bought Mazda3 S hatchback! Smooth ride, punchy engine, (who needs a 6 cylinder), saved a lot of money. Soft leather. Handles very well. Quiet engine. I love driving my car, and being able to get all friends in. So far, so good!

Puts other compacts to shame - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By vk - February 4 - 10:00 amBought this car after extensive research. I was looking for a compact Japanese car after all the troubles I had with my German engineered Golf. I didnt like the styling of the Civic or the Corolla- too bland. After looking at the reviews on Edmunds I decided to take the Mazda 3 for a testdrive. Driving dynamics are excellent. Handles very well and the interior quality and styling is excellent. Good pickup (2.3L engine). I bougt my car 6 weeks ago and so far no problems. Very happy with my decision. Highly recommended if you are in the market for a compact car.
