Overview & Reviews
Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.
Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

Great Car! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By NewOwner1351464 - April 3 - 2:00 amThe Mazda 3 is well worth the price. I would not recommend any other car in its class. Once you test drive the 5- speed you will be hooked for life. The automatic has terrible pickup, and doesnt get any better with the clutchless shift. I wouldnt give my 3 up to anyone.

Awesome car - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By dobby - April 3 - 2:00 amJust got my 3 sport GT with every options except leather, awesome in every points except the ride is a bit stiff to me. I had saturn, vw and Gmc and by far, even if it is the cheapest car i ever bought it is the better. All the wipers thing is very well designed, as well as all the buttons on the steering, to be short, every feature is amazing except the stiff ride and tiptronic transmission which is not as sporty as i would have think.

Perfect Car - 2007 Mazda Mazda3
By Ally - March 29 - 2:53 pmI got this car about 6 weeks ago and I couldnt imagine being happier with any other car. It gets good gas mileage, great handling and is still very comfortable. Im a busy student who works as well and I make frequent longer trips from LA on the weekends. Its great for just going around town and cruising down the freeway. The interior is well designed with everything in reaching distance. I love this car!

Zoom-Zoom! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Car Buff Steve - March 29 - 10:00 amI have the 2.3 S sedan for a month now and love it. I agree with one of the other consumers who wrote about the rear body refinement needed. Looking at the car from the rear is does look very high, but all the other angles look great. This car turns heads as it is new and different. Great looking car and fun to drive.

Its Great - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By carsdepot - March 29 - 10:00 amThis car is so awesome. I have test driven jettas, GTIs, Focuses, and none of them come close to the Mazda 3. The handling of this car is far superior to many cars costing over $10000 more. I got on with leather, 6 disc CD player and many other options for under $19000. Its great!!!

Upbeat Mazda 3 - 2014 Mazda Mazda3
By vonpeter - March 25 - 2:41 pmMazda has done something weird and wonderful with their Skyactiv technology. This car drives like a diesel: lots of torque, changes gears quickly, and sports spectacular fuel consumption. I get why it was nominated for car of the year. I felt the Corolla was like driving something front another era, another world compared to the Mazda-3.

Nice little car - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By 3 fan - March 20 - 11:33 pmOnly a month under the belt, but Im a fan of my new Mazda3i touring sedan. Fun to drive and comfortable. The back seat has enough room, but getting in and out is a bit of a challenge due to the sharp rake on the tops of the doors. The AT is responsive and solid, but I wish the extra gear was paired with the 2.0 and not just the 2.3. I just didnt feel the extra torque was worth the big drop in fuel economy. Once you move to the 2.3s, there are a lot of cars in the price range.
