  • The New Benchmark - M3s - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

I compared the Mazda 3s to the Civic, Matrix, Vibe, and a used Saab. The price is very competitive. The options are not bad either. Handling is amazing. Interior is unique. As all the ads say, the M-3s sets a new standard. Im so glad I waited and didnt buy the Civic or Matrix. Milage is 26 miles/gal. Features that luxury cars have as options are standard or available: Transmission with a semi- manual auto mode. Huge disc brakes with Brake Assist (a copy of the Mercedess version). Side, head, front air bags with driver postion sensor. Integrated interior where everying comes together.

I fell in love with the M3 the moment I saw it. Picked it up yesterday and am having a wonderful time so far. Its got zip and style. I think the mileage could be a bit better, but it aint that bad. I also think the music system could be better too.

Great looking and driving car. 2.3 I-4 with variable valve timing is very versatile -- rev to 6000+ RPM on a beltway on-ramp or cruise in 5th gear at low speeds on level terrain. EPA estimate is 32 mpg highway. I have only achieved that rating once or twice (long distances at speeds under 60 mph). Rpm kills mpg. It needs a 6th gear. In 5th, it revs 3000 rpm at 70 mph and fuel mileage suffers (avg 28-29 mpg hwy). Otherwise, it is great fun to drive. It goes where you point it. 4-wheel disc brakes are outstanding. Oil is a pain to change, with an aero pan that needs to be removed for filter access and filters available only from Mazda. 17" 50 series Goodyear RS-As are NOT snow tires.

  • Love the Mazda 3 Hatchback - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

This car is great, GREAT, fun to drive, reasonably priced and far more car than youd expect in the price range. Oh, it looks great too. I test drove several Toyotas, the Volkswagen Jetta, the Mini Cooper and the Mazda 3 hatchback was my choice without question. The ride was more responsive, yet smoother, than the Toyota Corolla, Prius and Rav 4. It drives with just as much fun as the Mini Cooper but I felt less jolted by the road than the Mini--cabin noise was less pronounced too. The Jetta came closest but was at least $2000 more with a history of more repair costs. Terrific car. No regrets.

  • Cant wait to get mine - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

After looking at the M3 for months on the website I was glad to finally get in one. The only real disapointment was the comfort of the seats.A bit stiff in cloth, but the leather seats are much more comfortable. Great handling and plenty of get up and go under the hood. Not really sure what options I will be getting, but it is sure to include the sunroof,cd changer and the 4speed automatic. I should have one in the driveway by the end of the week.

  • Still brand new after 5 yrs - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

I love this car. I bought it new 5 years ago and I still get a thrill driving it. The car hugs the road, has lots of power, and is a super easy stick shift to drive. My wife hated sticks until this car. It gets me to work without costing too much, it gets the entire family around comfortably, and I can load it up with junk from Home Depot. The versatility combined with a car thats a joy to drive makes it a no-brainer car to buy. I average 27 mpg in traffic, and 30-31 mpg highway.

am delighted with the car-mine is Auto and so smooth a quiet handles like a dream! I rate this car highly-feels to me like a small BMW to drive. My ONLY reservation is I have found the paint finish on the silver body work not as uniform as expected and its patchy in sun from certain angles and drivers door very slightly off clour-it IS original factory finish, I am abit nervous to ask for a warranty claim oin it since it may end up not as good. You have to look closely to see-but I expected better. I do love the car I would like to hear from other "3" owners if i am permitted to give my email address gerian@ihug.com.au

The Mazda 3 is an excellent car for a person on the go. The trunk space is excellent and the car is very comfortable and fun to drive. The radio controls on the steering wheel make it safer from me when Im driving. The ACL feature (volume louder as you go faster) is great, but it doesnt help you maintain the speed limit. Ive also had a few problems with my automatic driver window and the passenger air bag disabled light (it comes on even when I have a passenger) and Ive only had the car for 2 months. In all it is a great car, and any problems Ive had are all covered by the warranty!
