Overview & Reviews
The Mazda 3 is an all-new economy sedan and hatchback that replaces the Protege in Mazda's lineup.
- Fun-to-drive character, stylish interior design, strong engines, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be too stiff for some, a few ergonomic quirks, tight rear legroom.

Style and Substance - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By MTTX - April 13 - 10:00 amGorgeous car (in 5 door form). Vette drivers stare. The metallic Velocity Red Mica paint is stunning in sunlight or other strong lights... it burns with orange fire highlights. Lacks a bit of Protege5 visual character, but is much more refined. Driving it is very pleasant. Handling is very good up to the limit, but then it becomes vague. Engine is so quiet, using auto-manual mode requires watching the tach. Weak, thirsty engine. A/C is weak.

Mazda 3 Hatch after 500 miles - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By banthony - April 8 - 10:00 amI was looking for something to replace my boring 98 Corolla sedan, but with the 30+ mpg. Test drove both of the new Corollas with the 130 and 180 hp engines. Both of these cars sucked compaired to the old car. Looked at the Matrix and Elantra GT, but never drove either of these (cold only find them in automatics). Matrix looked small (Geo-Mertro like) from the outside, and the trunk was small on the inside. Then I sumbled onto the Mazda 3 Hatch. Wow, this is what I was looking for! A car with style, good performance, smooooth engine, smooth clutch, smooth shifting. The Mazda 3 has farily comfortable seats, and arm rests that you can accually use. This car can be fun to drive.

Best Bang for the Buck - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Nolan - April 8 - 10:00 amSimply amazing. I went from a Miata, to the three, and I was worried about losing the feel of driving, but it didnt happen. The car handles great, has a very direct feel on the road, and has enough torque available from as little as 3000 RPM to the redline to pass cars in 5th, with comfort. I would highly recommend this vehicle to just about anybody. And the Quality is also amazing.

Zoom-Zoom to Putt-Putt - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Paul - April 5 - 1:20 pmI got my Mazda 3 in March of 04, brand new, with only 4 miles on it. I shopped around for several months, and knowing I couldnt afford an Audi, I went with something as comparative and fun to drive. The first couple of years were great. It turned heads and drove like a cat. It had a few small annoying features, like no finger pace to open the trunk, poor cabin sound and a mediocre stereo. But then the transmission and clutch started having problems. It gave a little trouble at first, and then the third gear just went along with the warranty.

Cant get any better - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By sitik - March 7 - 2:00 amMy Mazda 3 was under $18k. Because of its exterior design people thought it was European. Because of its interior design and features people thought its was expensive. When I told them that it was under $18k they were surprised. In addition, they were astonished, when I told them that this car pushes 160hp and does 0 60 mph under 8 seconds. To sum up, I love this car!

What the 3 Series used to be - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By D_Stutzman - March 7 - 2:00 amI bought my Mazda3 2 weeks ago. By far best car I ever owned. Head turner, quality is impeccable, 2.3 litre with manual is fantastic. I put in Bosch quad Platinum spark plugs that bumped my torque up a bit. Great car, handles like a rear wheel drive with no torque steer.

Mazda 3 is surprising for a Nissan Guy - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Kevin C - March 7 - 2:00 amI have always loved Nissans. I thought I would never drive anything else until I drove this little car. Pretty exciting little thing. The only thing I could say I didnt like was the price tag, but after a little negotiating it was a sell. So far the gas mileage has been excellent and I could not ask for a better car out of a 4 cyl.

Drives like Sports Car... - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By GetinAticket - March 1 - 10:00 amAfter driving my last Mazda for 190k+ mi. I expect a long life out of my 3. This car is just fun to drive. It has great pickup, and it corners like a sports car. The cars comfortable speed is 80mph. ;-) I did a lot of research before my purchase and bought one of the first ones sold in my state. This car is truly the best value of its class.

2004 mazda3 4dr se - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By christine123 - March 1 - 10:00 amthis was my first car and i did a lot of research before deciding on the mazda3. i was on a budget and mazda ofered the most for the money, including reliability. it has more passenger seating room than any car in its class. The transmission is very smooth and the independant suspension takes the bumps out of many roads. test drive the mazda3 and you wont want to buy any other compact sedan.
