Overview & Reviews
Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.
Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

best in class - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By Jean - December 11 - 6:40 amAfter consider all the different entry level sedans i decided on getting the Mazda 3S, and i couldnt be happier. The car is very responsive, and the suspension is tight like a tiger. Fuel economy could be a little better, but 20mpg in the city is not bad. The lights are bright, and the interior is very ergonomic and roomy. Looks and drives like a car worth 10k more.

Best Car For the Money, Hands Down - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Andy989 - December 10 - 10:00 amOverall, this is a terrific car, with more in common with an Audi A4 or BMW 3-series than with most of the cars in its class. Beautiful styling inside and out, with superb, VW-quality fit and finish, a firm yet comfortable ride, surprisingly good acceleration and fuel economy (about 27 mph in mixed driving) with the 2.3/auto, nimble handling, plenty of room, lots of great features! Highly recommended if youre considering a Civic or Corolla but want some more fun.

Love the car, hate Mazda - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By LBS - December 10 - 10:00 amThe day after I bought my car I was rear-ended. The dealership was very helpful at first and coordinated getting it back to them. It has taken over 5 weeks to get the car back because Mazda does not make replacement parts readily available for this vehicle. I understand it is a new line but I find it ridiculous that Mazda has not been able to improve their parts distribution channels. In addition, the customer service I have received from the Mazda dealership has been terrible. I recommend the car 100% but watch out for idiots trying to hit your car (because Mazda wont be able to fix it for more than a month) AND dont buy th

Great car, very satisfied - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By Saint Louis Driver - December 7 - 10:46 amWell I was looking for a new car, and I looked at at least 15 cars in the $14k-18k segment. I happened upon this little beauty and am very happy. I have the 2.0L iTouring model, and have had it for about a month. Its got about 2100 miles on it, at first I was getting 33- 34mpg, but after breaking it in some, I have got 37mpg on my last 2 fill-ups. Its very fun and sporty to drive, I put the performance at 8, because even though its faster than anything Ive previously owned, Im not naive enough to think it can outpower some of the more expensive vehicles out there on the road, although this thing has PLENTY of pep, believe you me.

New Mazda owner - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By William Baldwin - December 4 - 1:40 pmI purchased the 2010 model 3 after test driving the 2010 Corolla. I drove a 2003 Corolla for seven years and was impressed with Toyota and was prepared to buy another until I compared the Mazda 3 and the Corolla. The Mazda 3 is more stylish and has a better quality interior by far than the Corolla. The Mazda 3 has very good handling and pick up and fit and finish is excellent. The sporty suspension provides for a rather stiff ride but is not a major problem. More road noise than I am used to but again, not a major problem. It is too early for me to comment on reliability. I personally find the seats somewhat uncomfortable for anything other than very short trips.

Great car - 2007 Mazda Mazda3
By Debi Hilton - December 2 - 8:13 amI have just purchased this fantastic vehicle. I love to drive and I didnt think Id ever trade in my 02 Jetta 1.8t. Who would ever think I would ever get rid of it, just because of the way it handled. But needless to say the Mazda3 surpasses the Jetta. Keep up the good work. One thing I would like it to have would be heated mirrors, and power front seats. I have the grand touring sedan.

Highly recommended - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Slim goody - December 1 - 7:43 pmA fun car to drive with the optional 2.3 liter engine. I prefer manual transmission, but the automatic was good because of the manual shift feature. Fit and finish were very good. Good room (we had the hatchback), handing and steering tight and nimble. Only problem was with one window that quit working, but our local dealer fixed under warrantee with no issues. Local dealer experience very good. They offered free tires and battery for the life of the car if regular scheduled maintenance done. Good fuel economy, we actually got better than whats posted on the window sticker. A good car for the money, dont even bother with any comparable American-made compacts.

Mazda 3 - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By Becky - November 30 - 6:03 pmI have owned my Mazda 3 for three months now. I noticed immediately that the paint chips off very easily. Today, I have more than 20 large paint chips on the side panels with no explanation. The dealer examined it and has told me it is simply from road debris. I have owned many new cars and have never had one lost its paint so easily. The paint used is not a quality paint. The dealer will tell you after the purchase that you need to buy a costly paint protection package to keep the paint in good shape. $22000 later, I have a car that looks pretty bad and has lost value because of the chips. Also, the dealer is having to replace the dash because it was black, but turned milky white.
