Overview & Reviews
The Mazda 3 is an all-new economy sedan and hatchback that replaces the Protege in Mazda's lineup.
- Fun-to-drive character, stylish interior design, strong engines, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be too stiff for some, a few ergonomic quirks, tight rear legroom.

Great Car - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Justin - September 5 - 8:33 pmI have had this car for a year now (24k miles) and have not had a single problem. The car handles great, has very good power (for the class), is very comfortable, and looks great! I have made a lot of long (8+ hour) trips in this car and it stayed very comfy all the way through. The car feels so tight and well built, very few squeaks and rattles. There are a few things I would change, but they are minor. I cant wait for the Mazdaspeed!

Well its been 16 months & 7000 miles - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By john brown - September 1 - 9:00 amWell its been 16 months and 7000 miles since I bought my Mazda 3s and the car is just as firm and tight as the day I drove it home for the first time, no rattles and vibrations (which I hate in a car). The steering and handling is just as superb, the brakes are just as good, the 5 speed manual (would never think of buying this car in automatic) is just as precise and sweet. I have even come to love the Goodyear RSA Eagles that everyone hate so much; excellent feedback to the driver from these tires, excellent cornering and braking, just go light at the start of a rain or they will spin. This is one awesome car that Mazda should be proud of making. Excellent driving machine.

Absolute BEST value under $20,000 - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By tjmazdaman - August 7 - 10:20 pmThis is undoubtedly the best car I have ever owned. Performance is excellent, the shift it yourself auto is way cool, easy to use, and fun! Purists should stick to the 5-speed though, which is one of the best Ive ever tested. This car looks sooo cool, and gets noticed. Build quality - incredible. Feels like it should have cost at least $25K. Razor-sharp handling, terrific road feel, dead-on straight line steering center, excellent brakes. Interior ergonomics are outstanding. Beats Honda, Toyota (snooze) and Nissan hands-down; styling, performance, versatility, standard features, ergonomics, driving satisfaction (FUN!) value, AND warranty. Youve read - now go buy and ENJOY!

Unreliable so far - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Soaring - August 2 - 2:00 amLoved this car at first. Fun to look at and fun to drive. However, the automatic transmission failed after 1,500 miles of normal driving, and am currently waiting for a brand new transmission. Overall, the car has good road handling and steering is good.

What a great little car! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By golfprof76 - July 22 - 10:30 pmBought this car just before a Georgia ice storm in Feb of 05, and I have to say that it is a great car on ice! I havent had a single problem with the engine, electronics or any other mechanical aspects of the car. I have only done routine stuff on it, plus whipped on a new set of Cooper tires (opt for anything but Toyo Tires, they are horrible). Tiptronic shifting is fun especially when trying to pass, just pop it into 3rd and youre off. Should have gotten a manual. Trunk space is however a let down, my stand bag fits at an angle and I cant even get my staff bag in at all.
