Overview & Reviews
For 2006, the Mazda 3 benefits from the addition of variable valve timing to the 2.0-liter engine and the availability of a five-speed automatic transmission on models with the 2.3-liter engine. Additionally, the 2.3-liter engine is now PZEV-certified in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont. Models with air conditioning get a pollen filter and outside temperature display on the center console. ABS and variable-intermittent front wipers become part of the standard features list for all 2.3-liter models. Also, a couple of new Touring trims are added to the lineup.
- Superbly refined suspension, steering and brakes, sharp styling inside and out, smooth engines, excellent build and materials quality, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be a tad stiff for some, tight rear legroom, so-so fuel economy with 2.3-liter engine.

Fun To Drive - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By RoNuS - November 9 - 7:20 pmI put a lot of miles on my car a year; in my 7 1/2 months of ownership I have logged 22,000 miles on the car thus far. This car is a blast to drive; its nice to just turn the stereo off, roll the windows down, and listen to the engine while driving.

Another good Mazda - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By Tim - October 26 - 3:40 pmHad a Mazda Protege when it came out in 1995; the car was just ok to use. Wife wanted another Mazda, so we got the Mazda3 and it is by far the best compact car that we have ever owned.

2nd Mazda 3 - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By Sam - October 10 - 10:20 amThis is my 2nd Mazda 3 5 door. I traded my previous 2004 model that had 33,000 miles for a tricked out one. I thought the 2004 model was a nice ride, but the 2006 seems to be smoother and quieter. Plus the Grand Touring upgrade with Nav System is very nice. Options I would expect on more expensive cars.

wow - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By BW - October 3 - 10:06 amThis is the best small car out there. After driving a Toyota Matrix and Mazda3 back to back I bought the 3 on the spot. This car is fun. I love the stereo, the interior, and the 17" wheels. Handles like a dream and my bike fits in the back.

Mazda3 driving performance - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By 3 owner - September 30 - 1:00 amI bought my Mazda3 in 2006 since than I put over 42000 miles on the vehicle. I have had very few problems with the vehicle and the ones I did have were quickly resolved by the dealership. I like the performance and so far the durability of the vehicle. I hope to see Mazda continue the Mazda3 line and improve upon it. So far I think the 3 is just as good as the Honda civic, however I will know for sure if the car makes it to 150000 plus miles with minimal repairs.

A Best Buy By All Means - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By dbiri - September 26 - 3:06 pmThis is my 3rd Mazda, 2 previous Proteges; all great cars with no problems which keeps me coming back to Mazda. But this CAR by far takes the cake. It has all the extras you could ask for and then some. The interior of this car look like it belongs in the class of cars that cost as much as $30k. For a small car this car handles like a dream for those who enjoy those twisty roads. Also if you are looking for the best car that money can buy this is it from the leather, xenons, 6 disc Bose, automatic A/C, you name it, its there. As far as gas mileage goes its about average for a 4 cylinder.

Terrific Value - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By miken - September 23 - 10:56 amIm amazed with the level of equipment that comes with this car, for the price (I got the car at invoice). I have the 5 speed automatic, which includes sport shift. Love the looks, ride, handling, and utility. The car is a lot of fun and the gas mileage pretty good -- about 28.5 after two fill-ups.

Mazda 3i Touring - 2006 Mazda Mazda3
By Nadia - September 23 - 9:13 amI purchased this car about 3 weeks ago. I really like the vehicle. It has numerous options at a great price. Only two complaints; one is that the muffler had surface rust on it. I thought that was odd for a 2006 with 5 miles on it. Also, due to some bad luck in the past for a family member, I had the battery tested prior to driving off the lot. Guess what? The battery failed the test! I would have been stranded somewhere for sure after a couple days/weeks. So I had to have the battery replaced before I actually took the car home. I found that quite disturbing. Most people probably dont ever think of doing such a thing but look at what happened. No a bad idea for others to try.
