Overview & Reviews
All new for 2004, the Mazda 3 receives only minor changes for 2005. The four-door "i" model gets a new 15-inch wheel cover design, and Sirius Satellite Radio is now available on all models.
- Fun-to-drive character, stylish interior design, strong engines, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be too stiff for some, a few ergonomic quirks, tight rear legroom.

2.3 Manual Trans Rebuilt at 11000 Miles - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By golfdoc - May 24 - 7:43 amI bought the Mazda 3 after years of owning Toyotas & Hondas. I have never had any major mechanical problems with any of these vehicles. Was I surprised when after owning my 2004 Mazda 3 2.3, my manual transmission was stuck in second gear. Now after 16 months and 11,000 miles my 3 is at a dealership getting the transmission rebuilt. Its had 2 recalls and is also waiting for the glove box to be replaced at another dealership because it sticks. The only plus is Mazda paid for the tow and the dealer is paying for my rental car. I will NEVER buy another vehicle manufactured by FORD motor company. There is definitely truth in the saying you that a FORD will be (F)ound (O)n the (R)oad (D)ead.

125,000 miles and going strong - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By michdude - April 30 - 10:02 pmI bought my 2005 Mazda 3 as a used, certified car with 48,000 one owner miles on it. I had just started a new job which is 25 miles one way so I needed a reliable, fairly fuel efficient car that looked sharp, was fun to drive and could seat four adults when needed. Im 63" tall so I also needed a car that could handle my lanky frame. I have to say my Mazda 3 has been a pleasure to drive over the past three years. It has also been reliable. The only mechanical failures Ive had are the serpentine belt tension pulley and the drivers side front wheel bearing. I have replaced the brake rotors and pads and bought new tires (Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Overall I love my 3!!!!!!!

Awesome car - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By me - April 30 - 1:16 pmThis is just a terrific car. Reliability has been very good except for shocks and battery been replaced at 24k (Puerto Rico roads are awful), otherwise excellent. Power is impressive for a 4 cyl engine, and ride comfort is acceptable despite having 17s on 50 series tires. Handling is awesome, it just sticks like glue. In the end, the best compact you can buy today

My favorite car - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By Seva Popov - April 30 - 10:33 amI was shopping among more expensive cars like Acura TSX and Subaru Legacy when my attention was captured by the Mazda3. Immediately I liked the Mazda3 looks from the outside and the contemporary design inside the Mazda3 cabin. I did a test drive of Mazda3 and fell in love with it. Ive been enjoying it for three months now. Mazda3 is a very fun to drive. I am very happy with my decision to buy it.

Youll never want to buy another car! - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By hmarie23 - March 29 - 12:50 pmI owned my 2005 Mazda3i for just over a year before it was totaled. Im still mourning the loss of this car & with any luck will purchase another soon. I bought my mazdda3 used with 100,000 miles and drove it for 22,000 more. This car is extremely reliable, never had any problems with it (which is great since it had been in 2 minor accidents before I got it). Gas mileage was excellent -mostly highway driving usually got around 30 mpg which is great for a college students budget! My only complaint (aside from the lack of any real space needed when I was moving) was that around 110,000 miles it began to shake when it idled, before that it was smooth sailing. You cant go wrong buying this car

fuel pump/car starting problem - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By bryan - February 23 - 11:13 pmi purchased my mazda3s 3 months ago. in the second month (4000 miles) i began to have problems starting my car. on the initial start up, the car would crank, but would not start; i would have to turn the car off & then re-start it in order for the engine to start. serviced @ dealership; they stated it was fuel pump, dealership replaced fuel pump, car worked for 3 weeks & 600 miles later (4600 miles) car is not starting again; cranks but will not start. currently no recall

Great value - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
By Great from A to B - February 15 - 8:13 amThis is the first car that I have owned and I bought it new in 2006. I loved this car for all seasons but winter. This car is horrible in the snow! The handling is great if the roads are not wet. The car is overly noisy going over puddles and water. I have no other complaints about this car besides driving it in snow/ice.
