Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

Just got my Titanuium 3, fully loaded with leather and i have a smile on my face everytime I drive it. The looks alone on peoples faces are awesome. Even when people are driving behind me I can tell theyre talking about the 3

When the car was introduced in 04, I knew Id own one. I waited for any "beginner" bugs to be worked out & bought the GREAT reviewed 05 model. To date, I have no complaints. The style, the power & the extras cant be compared with any other car in the $20k range. I also looked at the Civic, Corolla, Focus, Matrix & Jetta. It may get beat in gas milage, but the other cars are boring & plain. Besides, I see a few dozen of those other cars on the road everyday. This car is a head- turner. I go hiking, The Sport AT transmission is great for climbing the big hills & it makes it FUN. Lots of cargo room. The exterior/interior styling is great. Lots of room for my sports stuff & the kids stuff!

I recently traded in my 2011 Mazda2 for a 2012 Mazda3, was a fantastic choice since the 2 is garbage. Then traded the 2012 3 for a 2010 for a little more miles and a lot less money. I got the car with 30k miles on it, all maintenance touched up, and a better deal. From what I know about the newer model I have high hopes for this one. The gas mpg is little shotty after driving the Skyactive engine, but it is even more fun to drive, with better handling. I love the Mazda3, its truly a unique sedan in this day and age.

  • Fun, but noisy on highway - 2011 Mazda Mazda3

I have had the Mazda 3 iSport for about 3 weeks now and I find it is fun to drive. However, the road noise on the highway is overwhelming. Mazda could have spent a few more bucks insulating for road noise. Additionally, the back seat legroom could have used a few more inches. The car though is very fun to drive and the accelaration is great. You do not have to worry about getting up to speed on highway on-ramps.

  • Thought it would be faster! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

After turning in my Mazda 6 I decided to try out the 3. The Grand Touring is worth the extra bucks with heated leather seats, moon-roof etc. The gas mileage for a smaller car kinda stinks since the best I could get is 24 mpg. The handling around tight turns is fun although I wish the car was faster. I thought the 2.5 engine on a smaller car would be better. The best 0-60 I could get was around 8 seconds. My manual shifting days are over so when they come out with the Mazda Speed in an automatic, Im there!

  • Very fun car? - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

I love this car so far. It is really fun, and very helpful for road trips. Even though I have had the check engine light on 3 times for minor problems, its a really neat car. Hatchback is very cool and seats are very comfortable.

  • Close to perfect - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

Style drew me to the car and that is definately its best feature. Many people have asked me about it, commenting how nice looking it is. In reading reviews about the car, one thing that kept popping up was that it had weak a/c. Im finding that thats true. You have to put the air vent to the recirculate setting to enjoy any truly cold air. I always start out with the windows down and the moon-roof open to let the really hot air escape and yet it still seems to take an overly long time to feel semi-cold air. Drives like a dream though even though the engine emits a strong odor on occassion like some kind of chemical is burning off.

  • The King of Compacts - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I test drove many cars before making my purchase. I liked the aggressive look of the Lancer GTS, but I could not resist the expensive feel of the Mazda. I feel like there are very few cars that compare on all levels. I put 10000 miles on my car in 3 months of driving- including a few roadtrips. The car is comfortable enough for me and easy to drive. All of the common controls feel right at my fingertips and can be operated without looking. The engine is smooth and powerful during regular driving and there is a subtle but pleasant exhaust note. I have a Celestial Blue sedan with a few enhancements such as aftermarket wheels. The front end has really grown on me and looks good from many angles
