Overview & Reviews
The Mazda 3 is an all-new economy sedan and hatchback that replaces the Protege in Mazda's lineup.
- Fun-to-drive character, stylish interior design, strong engines, hatchback utility.
- Ride might be too stiff for some, a few ergonomic quirks, tight rear legroom.

my Strato Blue baby - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By K.Love - May 26 - 1:43 pmI brought my car home 12.14.2004. So far, Im quite happy with my purchase. It has been 4 years since Ive owned a vehicle and I promised myself that my first *New* car would be exactly what I wanted. I paid (in cash) $19k (after $500 college rebate- beware its taxable) $20,273 with TTL- for the following: Automatic, Strato Blue, Moonroof 6 CD with ABS/SAC/SAB pkg. My car also has the digital compass attached to the rear-view mirror (its extremely helpful) The drivers seat is quite comfortable. For a 4 cylinder engine- it has quite the pick- up! The gear shift is a little strange in its zig-zag design- but after a while you get used to it. Lots of space in hatch/trunk!

very nice car for the price - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Blaqcat - May 16 - 2:00 amWas looking at the base Accord coupe for a while when I came across the Mazda 6. After a lot of research on the 6, I accidentally stumbled upon the Mazda 3S. I read 6 reviews of the car on the internet- all very positive. I arranged a test drive using Edmunds.com and I can say that this is one of the stylish and nicely built cars in the under $20K price segement. Interior is nicely styled and comfortable. Automatic transmission has a pseudo-manual mode. The lines and curves of the car reminds me of more highly priced sedans- this car turns heads wherever it goes.

By Watersdeep - May 11 - 10:00 amFun car to drive. Some things can be fixed for the 2005s but for the price I payed i cant complain to much. Overall the I love the car. Great craftsmanship both inside and out. Not many people have discovered the Mazda 3 so their are not many on the road just yet and thats one thing i like as well.

Nightmare - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By djfloyd23 - May 11 - 10:00 amThis beautiful new Mazda might as well be a trojan horse of horror in a pretty package. After 3 attempts to fix my car, I had to have it replaced for being a lemon. 4 days after acquiring my replacement I was being towed because my clutch broke. So as hot looking as this new Mazda is& as fun& exciting it is to drive; my question is, how long will the fun last for you?

The Best in Class - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Blondemom1 - May 5 - 10:00 amLooked at and drove all the leading competitors; Corolla, Civic, Sentra, Focus, Lancer. While a couple of the others were pretty good, in my mind there was no comparison. IMO, the 3 is the best vehicle for the price. Great handling, peppy acceleration, European looks, and the ability to get side airbags, alloys, sunroof, and ABS all together. Beautiful paint. Originally, I was just going to go buy a Corolla. Then I drove it. I couldnt get a comfortable postition to drive. Civic nice but old design. Lancer seemed cheap. Focus was fun to drive, but I dont like the looks or the reliability reputation. Very happy with the Mazda 3.

What a piece of ^%$^%$^&%! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By stissenko - April 26 - 5:30 pmI have a 2.3 AT version with currently 83K on it. TO begin is I should say it is the WORST car I have ever had (and I have owned quite a few). I have recently changed: all 4 shocks , bar links, rotors, caliper, leaking radiator, engine mount, heat shield, had to fix exhaust pipe! Unfortunately, it didnt solve all problems: I keep adjusting the breaks (obviously, I do not count new pads, since it is a maintenance), but the noise is still there. Right caliper is about to have to be changed (I am selling the car prior to that). I guess I am really tired of having the car at the shop ALL THE TIME, trying to understand whats wrong with it. If you want a car: DO NOT BUY!

Forget about Honda and Toyota - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By Jeff Kershner - April 10 - 2:00 amThis is a great car. If your considering a Honda Civic or a Toyota, even a Jetta, take a look at the Mazda3. For the money I dont think anything compares! I have been car shopping for 3 months, was going to make the "typical" purchase of the Honda Civic. Toyota just had no appeal and the Jetta was a little pricy for everything thing I wanted, sunroof, CD changer, pwr everything, etc. Once I heard about the Mazda3 coming out I thought I would hold off. I sure am glad I held out for the Mazda3 to arrive. 2 days with this car and I know I made the right decision. Great Warranty too. The dealership in Hagerstown MD was great to work with as well!
