Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

I have had this car for a couple of months now and I have gotten nothing but compliments except for the people jealous that they dont have one.

  • Engine Failure - 2008 Mazda Mazda3

Beware of Mazda engine. Our story is like many others I am reading, and if only I were aware of the problems with Mazda engine, I would not have experienced such a financial loss. I bought the 2008 Mazda 3i for my graduate student daughter from a known party, well maintained at 61000 miles. We continued the routine service/small repairs for the last year. at 74000 the engine timing chain broke on the freeway, engine overheated and car is a total loss. Dont go near Mazda, we left the Mazda lot and walked into the Honda dealer, where I have many years of reliability. Never again Mazda! You can google the issue and we are not alone.

  • Excellent car, fun to drive - 2011 Mazda Mazda3

Ive owned my 2011 Mazda3 for about a month, and I have never been happier with a car. I purchased it after a bad car accident, at a time when I never thought Id feel safe or happy driving again. This car has changed my mind. I was drawn to it because of the great safety ratings, and the test drive I took it on sealed the deal. I average about 32 mpg, for a mixture of city and hwy. The road noise can seem a little loud sometimes, but not too bad. Nice acceleration, the handling feels almost sporty and it corners on a dime. The ride feels comfortable to me as well. Finally, I love the way the car looks inside and out, and my friends are always commenting on how nice it is.

  • I Love My Mazda3 - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

This was my first brand new car purchase and my first Mazda and I love this car. I thought the automatic transmission was trash so I got the manual. I get about 26 to 27 miles per gallon under mixed highway and city driving. I drive it pretty hard (I cant help it; its fun to drive). I got rid of the whip antenna and replaced it with a Shark Fin Antenna and the car looks really nice with it. My friend says it looks almost like a BMW! The car looks REALLY nice in Black.

  • Wow,cool car - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

Looks cool, handles great, great mpg, got all kinds of options for a cheap price, pretty good giddy-up and go. Really love the dash lighting - that blue to bright red makes me feel like I am in a space ship. The pump up/down drivers seat is nice, I am nearly 6 tall and I can easily lower it and feel perfectly comfortable in it while my 52 wife can do the same. The 6 cd stereo rocks pretty good for being just factory. It is also a head turner. We got a spoiler too and that just adds to its over all appeal. I just cannot say enough good things about it, wish I could get another so we can have 2 and I could drive it full time. Sometimes I like to look out the window and gaze at our zoom-zoom".

  • Awesome Economy Car - 2006 Mazda Mazda3

I have owned my Mazda3 for 5 months now and I couldnt be happier. This car really is a great value for the price. I have owned a few Honda Civics and a VW Passat. While the Passat is a much nicer ride, the 3 comes pretty close and costs way less. This isnt a fast car but it never feels underpowered and has a great suspension for a Japanese economy car. Plus, it gets excellent gas mileage. I am averaging about 34MPG with the manual transmission. I would recommend this car for anyone that wants a great car for well under $20k.

  • Fun Car with Annoying Problems - 2006 Mazda Mazda3

This car has been very, very fun to zip around on both the highway and city. However after only driving it for 6 months my clutch pedal became squeaky (replaced under warranty). Then a month later my brakes became extremely squeaky even though I still had 75% of the pads left. I plan on taking it in again soon.

  • I Love My Mazda3! - 2005 Mazda Mazda3

The Mazda3 is an amazing car. I have to make a long commute to work every day, and I love making that long drive because i love driving my Mazda3. Eventhough it is a sedan, I feel like I am driving a sports car. It has amazing acceleration and braking capabilities, smooth shifting, and a wonderful smooth ride. Eventhough the s model is more expensive than the i, with the s you get more for your money and I think it is a better value.

  • Old Reliable - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

I owned my 3 from brand new until a Mercury Sable tagged it in the right front strut tower and put an end to it at 99,000 miles. In that time it went to the dealer once when the telescoping wheel tightening nut came loose. That was it. Averaged 30-34 mpg of fun driving and Im going to miss it.

  • Best Hatchback ever - 2005 Mazda Mazda3

I love driving my new Mazda 3. It has so much more power than my recent car and it handles so well in the corners. There is nothing that I can find wrong with this car.
