Overview & Reviews
Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.
Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

Best 2004 compact car for the price - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
By harddrivet - May 15 - 10:00 amI have never ever owned a Mazda, but I saw one of these cars on the mass pike and had to check them out. I did the research on Edmunds, drove a few Mazda 3s, and bought one. So far I am happy. It is fun to drive and gets good gas mileage. I just hope it is reliable and lasts since I drive many miles a year commuting to work.

A Wonderful Car with Loads of Extras - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By Eugene - May 10 - 4:26 amIve only had my car for a week but so far I am real pleased and have no remorse. It really does feel like a small luxury car with all the features and stylings. I cant wait to drive it when Im sitting at home. I never drove the i version, but the larger engine has lots of zip, no problem passing cars on the road

Great buy! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
By terjej - May 6 - 1:25 amOriginally was going to buy a 3 but upgraded to the itouring and it was a wise decision. This car is a solid performer and since purchasing it new, only regular mainenance has been done and no warranty work has been necessary. I have owned full size SUVs and was surprised to see what I can load in this Mazda with the rear seats folded down. it has a wide opening when the truck is opened up. I enjoy going to manual shift and pushing this vehicle to the limits on tight turns. This car has a very good feel for the road and fun to drive. The cabin tends to be a bit noise at highway speeds but the stereo can automatically adjust the volume to changing speeds which is a nice option.

2009 mazda3 2.0L 5spd - 2009 Mazda Mazda3
By joey - May 2 - 5:23 amIt seems to be a great little car. I purchased it because its a bargain. I wont mention what I paid for it, but I will say it was more than $2,000 less than the corolla, and the cobalt. Interior and exterior are better looking than the aforementioned vehicles. The gas mileage could be better.

So far so good - 2011 Mazda Mazda3
By chrisjwelch - May 1 - 6:01 amOwned my Mazda3 about 1 month now. Everything is fantastic. Surprisingly large in the front seats. I would not personally feel comfortable sitting in the back seat, but since I never do, it is not an issue. Great gas mileage. Fun to drive. Well priced compared to similar sedans I looked at. Looking forward to having this car for a while.

Fun to Drive is a Yes - 2007 Mazda Mazda3
By Cklaven - April 30 - 10:46 pmI just bought the S Grand Touring with a 5 speed. I love to drive it, want to go to eat at restaraunts that are farther away. I wish I lived farther from work. I had a Scion xB, which had a sporty feel, but the engine always sounded like it was laboring. The

Versatile and fun Mazda 3 - 2007 Mazda Mazda3
By Mark - April 27 - 1:26 pmIve had my 2007 GT for almost a year. It has been a fun car to drive and easy to live with. The versatile hatchback converts to a mini-SUV when you remove the cargo cover and fold the seats - Ive had 14 bags of mulch back there! The 2.3 with automatic is peppy enough, however on hills with the AC running it can get a little strained. GT standard equipment is generous. Annoyances: over time some of the interior plastic panels have developed rattles, and the auto trans sometimes hesitates between 1st and 2nd gears. I would buy this car again but would go for the MazdaSpeed 3 with the manual tranny. Overall a great car which you can get loaded for low $20s.
