Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

  • One of the best cars in its class. - 2011 Mazda Mazda3

After 8 months with my Mazda 3 Grand Touring sedan I am still extremely happy with my purchase. Of the 5 cars I have owned over my lifetime this is the best car I have owned. The fun to drive quotient of this car should be the benchmark in its class. It does mean a firmer ride but for myself it is in no way objectionable. The interior features are astounding. Bluetooth, Bose stereo, heated seats, leather, etc. make for a very nice place to be. Overall you cannot go wrong with the Mazda 3, it is definitely a worthwhile competitor in the segment and in my opinion leaps and bounds better than the Civic and Corolla.

I have owned my new Mazda for a month. Just love it. I traded in my suv gas guzzler. So I am loving the gas mileage. I know it is not as good a others on mileage but for the style compared to Toyota and Honda I would sacrifice. Im am still getting use to the front grill, it seems to grow on me everyday. This car is so fun to drive compared to my tank I use to have. My first new car was a Mazda 323 back in 1988 loved Mazda then and I am loving Mazda now dont know why I went away from Mazda.

  • Been great so far! - 2005 Mazda Mazda3

I bought it used with 46,000. It now has 58,000 and I have had no problems with it what so ever. Gas mileage has been pretty good although the car is small and I would expect it to get better. But other than that it has been golden. No mechanical problems. Turns on a dime. Rides beautifully on the highway. Put good tires on it if you havent already. I had the Eagle RS-A and as soon as I switched them out the car was much quieter and rode a lot smoother. A/C can be a little weak. But it seems to do fine if you turn it up another notch. All around a very good car. I am very happy with it and I dont expect that to change

I have had this car for 3 weeks now and have NO regrets. Despite the fact that it is brand new and new style I purchased for well under invoice using my Edmunds research. I am happy with my purchase..its fun to drive..looks good and has heads turning. The power is GREAT for a small car. It handles like a sports car. This is a classy small car. Ive waited so long for another "great little car". Im a loyal Mazda owner and have enjoyed their reliability for years now....I am now so excited to have not only the reliability but the LOOKS! Mazda just gets better and better!! I look forward to owning this vehicle for years to come.

Great new car from Mazda! The new 3 is leading the sub-compact class right up a notch or two. Dont wate money buying a base model compact. This car is very tight, good looking and well-priced. modern ergonomics and built in Japan makes it a winner. The car has been referred as a mix between a BMW, a Jetta and a Corolla... taking only the good from each of them... The Bimmer is great but too expensive; the Jetta feels realgood, but is poorly built; the Corolla has excellent reliability, but is bland and dull. The Mazda 3, particulalry the 3s or GT in Canada combines all the "wants" and drops the "bads". Nice car!

  • The Yank Mk. 2 Ford Focus - 2008 Mazda Mazda3

The car has been a joy to own since new. No problems to date, just basic transportation the Mazda way - fantastic. Proper layout in the interior; Shifter placement is superb, and the tunnel nestles next to your right leg in perfect position as a rest spot on long journeys. Pedals light and user friendly. Exterior design is that of form equivalent function, meaning there is enough emotion but all of it is usable. Of course the chassis is up to snuff, ready to drive your any and every mood.

  • Zoom Zoom Hatchback - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

Great driving machine but hard to find a manual. 07 Civic and 07 Corolla have nowhere near the road manners and performance of this one. Smooth and quiet ride but with excellent feel of the road. Acceleration is quite spirited and the quiet cabin belies the speed you are driving at. Braking is amazing! Only car with stability control at this price level. In mixed driving around Seattle I get 400 miles per tank. The hatch has ample cargo volume for hauling. Very easy to attach baby seats with the latch system. Driving at night, with the fog lights on, is a pleasure for tired eyes. The illuminated buttons (audio and cruise) on the steering wheel take a bit of getting used to.

  • Traded Fit for m3, I feel young again. - 2008 Mazda Mazda3

Reminds me of my 1982 Rx7 except its much better. Its all in one, powerful engine response, adequate mpg, sporty handling, nice suspension, loads of features in comparison with honda vehicles in this price range. Tremendous quality build. The trunk space is adequate for a car its size and Im really happy I bought this car. Its simply the best bang 4 the buck. The stereo and sound system are awesome even when its not the top one offered in the se version. I love this car because its the best in its class. I recommend it to anyone who wants the best car out there, look no more.

  • Mazda 3i - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

Excellent vehicle to drive in, its fun to drive, quite interior, with 4 wheel disk brakes, and 15" tires. A lots of space for a compact car. No problem getting on the freeway. There are two suggestion I would like Mazda to look in to its dash light. 1st, the red color light display on dash made my eyes uncomforable after a while and, 2nd the driver/passanger seat need some improvement for back support. Other than that, the Mazda 3i is a fine automobile. Suggestion: Get the car with power door locks. You will want it later if dont buy it with the options, belive me. Over all, I feel it is a better car to drive than, a corolla.
