Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

  • Great car - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

We just bought a 3s for my wife to drive and we love it. The car is fun to drive and it looks great. Ours had a problem with the rear brakes initially, but it was resolved quickly.

  • New Mazda 3i 4-Door - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

I just replaced my 2000 Hyundai Accent 4-Door with the new 2004 Mazda 3i 4- Door. I chose the Velocity Red with Black Cloth, loaded with features and 4- Speed tiptronic. Even with all of the features, my sticker was $18,030. One of my co-workers said it looks like a small BMW! I drive about 35 miles each way to work, and this car is comfortable- even for me at 63" plenty of legroom up front and just enough headroom- even with the sunroof! I highly recommend this car - I just hope you dont start seeing them all over the road so I can still stand out like I do now!

  • Who is Honda anyway? - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

Compare this to a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla and you are flat out nuts! The 3 is way faster, handles ten times as good, and has a longer warranty. What more can you want right? Well it looks better too, and costs the same. Im tired of the Honda and Toyota cliche. Honda and Toyota arent better anymore people! And this is coming from a used to be loyal Honda owner. Mazda is it now! Mazda is doing and building cars now, like Honda and Toyota used to.

Looked at a number of other cars, matrix, vw, subaru, etc. The three had a lot more bang for the dollar. Still waiting to see how it really performs because of the break in period.

  • Zoom Zoom, Indeed - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

Okay, so at 62 Im a little outside the core demographic, but who cares. This thing rocks. Highest grin factor since my 1972 Capri V6. But Mazdas are supposed to be like that. What has completely blown me away is the rock solid structure and superb build quality. Wow, what a car. Mileage so far is at 24.5, with a best of 29.9 and worst 20.5, about what I expected. It should improve as I get more miles on it, and if I can keep my foot out of it (nah).

  • This car Rocks! - 2007 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

Bought this as my first brand new car back in 07. In the three years I have owned this car I have had no problems with it. I changed the oil and rotated tires, thats about it. The BOSE systems is pretty decent, but remember it is a stock system. I know a lot of reviews say this car sucks in the snow and rain, it doesnt if you have a good set of tires. The stock tires that came with this car were awful. I live in Colorado and snowboard religiously, I take my 3 up all the time and this car has never let me down. I did however go to tirerack and bought a 4 winter tires mounted on 16 inch wheels which fit the car well. This added the rubber needed for good traction in the winter.

  • Will never purchase a mazda again. - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

words cannot explain how horrible my experience with mazda was. first my clutch failed(due to pressure plate wearing unevenly) with no warning at 19500 miles, after only owning since november, and then the service department treated me like crap, ignored their mechanics who said it was defective, screamed at me to the point i was in tears in the middle of the floor, and refused to cover the repairs, corporate was not much a better experience as they didnt care and wouldnt give me any answers. i contacted the local news stations and everyone in PITTSBURGH PA will know what has happened.

  • Best vehicle for the money - 2005 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

Amazing car for the money. Looked at Corolla, Cobalt, Civic, RSX but this car had everything for the right price. Drive feels very firm, like an Audi A4 or Volvo S70 that I have driven. Interior is very comfortable and exterior is gorgeous.

  • Do not pass this car up! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

My Wife an I purchased this car back in May 2009, after reviewing and test driving cars from BWM, VW, Toyota, Honda, Chevy, Ford, and Subaru, the Mazda 3 blows all of these other hatchbacks out of the water! First you will find none of the cars listed above that have all the features that you can get in the Mazda 3, the 4 Cylinder motor drive like a powerful 6, and the car feels and handles better than any other car in its class. If you are looking for a Fun to Drive, fuel efficient, Sports Car with family seating and storage look no farther than the Mazda 3. I promise after one test drive of this car you will be unable to get it out of your mind.
