Model Overview:

Mazda has a tradition of building entertaining small cars, and the Mazda 3 fits right in with its sharp handling and engaging nature. But it's also a practical, affordable runabout that's available as either a sedan or a handy four-door hatchback. A Mazda 3 of any vintage is worth consideration, but the 3's interior quality has improved dramatically over time. Likewise, fuel economy has emerged as a real strength in recent years.

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda 3 has always been one of those cars that feels a little bit special when you get behind the wheel. Some shoppers might find the ride too firm, but if you like to drive, you'll probably take a shine to this compact Mazda. Passenger room is the same in the sedan and hatchback, but the latter offers more cargo room. If fuel economy is a priority, note that 2012 and later models benefit from updated engine technology that helps the car return significantly better mileage.

  • Fun and reliable - 2008 Mazda Mazda3

I drive about 30,000 plus miles per year so I am in the car a lot and the 08 Mazda 3 is my favorite car yet. I have Nissan Maximas, Honda Accords and Civics and the Mazda has proven to be the most fun and reliable car thus far. It handles well and feels more like a sport car than an economy sedan. The Mazda 3 has amenities that are usually only found on higher end cars such as the automatic windshield wipers, heated seats, zeon headlights, automatic moonroof and auto climate control. The absence of a truck release from the remote is about the only option I miss. Interior carpet and plastics are cheap but leather seats are adequate and comfortable.

  • Fantastic! Good looking and Sporty! - 2008 Mazda Mazda3

I have owned Lexus SC, BMW 325i, Merc. SLK230 etc. Mazda3 is what I have liked the best. My 2008 Grand Touring Sedan is loaded out with everything. Auto xenon headlights, 6 disk CD, tire sensors, Bose speakers, leather upholstry, steering wheel controls, auto sensor wipers, heated seats, sunroof, etc. All these items didnt even come on my BMW or Mercedes that costs way more than the Mazda3! Mazda3 hugs the road like a sports sedan without feeling all the bumps in the road, and handles very well. Its easy to get in and out of the car, black leather seats look fabulous and classy, dash lights up with all the lights looks rich. Gas mileage is super. I average 26mpg with regular gas. Buy it!

  • So far so good. - 2011 Mazda Mazda3

I got a 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback just last week after doing some initial research into the car. I have owned a 2003 Mazda 6 in the past and my sister has owned a 2004 Mazda 3. The newer features are nice, but I miss the 1 touch drivers window. I dont have GPS and its an auto with 42 K on it.

Im very happy with the Mazda3 5- door. Phantom Blue with Moonroof and 6 CD - Auto. Looks sharp! Its a very tight vehicle that handles very well. A great package with many features = outstanding value. Thanks to all the reviews here for helping me decide on this vehicle.

  • What a great little car! - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

Bought this car just before a Georgia ice storm in Feb of 05, and I have to say that it is a great car on ice! I havent had a single problem with the engine, electronics or any other mechanical aspects of the car. I have only done routine stuff on it, plus whipped on a new set of Cooper tires (opt for anything but Toyo Tires, they are horrible). Tiptronic shifting is fun especially when trying to pass, just pop it into 3rd and youre off. Should have gotten a manual. Trunk space is however a let down, my stand bag fits at an angle and I cant even get my staff bag in at all.

  • This is the Best Econo (Not) - 2004 Mazda Mazda3

This is not an economy car. The 2.3 liter is a joy to drive: Ive zoom zoomed ~350 miles in the three days Ive owned it. The car comes alive in third and the 40-85 mph acceleration is incredible. 52-48 weight distribution and built in roll bars eliminate body-roll and instill confidence behind the wheel. No Honda, Toyota, or Nissan sedan can come close to the 3s performance.

I cant stay away from driving it! zoom zoom zoom is right!

  • Why Choose the Mazda 3? - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

The Mazda 3 is the first car that I have purchased on my own. For 2 years since I have had my drivers liscense I drove a 1992 Buick Skylark. Although the skylark was fairly reliable I just did not feel young and hip driving it. I love to drive, and there is nothing better than having fun while you drive a sports car, but being able to have the features of a sedan. The Mazda 3 truly is the best of both worlds.

  • Style & Function - 2004 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

This car is extremely fun to drive! It handles great, and has plenty of power. It is also a real head turner. Ive had people walk across parking lots and roll down their windows in traffic to tell me how great it looks and ask what it is. The excellet gas mileage and room for all the climbing gear we take on road trips put it over the top. We love it!
