This Year's Model Updates:

Mazda adds power to the MPV in the form of a 200-horsepower V6 engine governed by a five-speed automatic transmission, which is just what the doctor ordered for this previously underpowered minivan. The MPV also gains power-sliding doors, available 17-inch alloy wheels, traction control, an improved braking system and revised suspension tuning.

Pros:
  • Compact and maneuverable, confident handling manners, roll-down windows in sliding doors.
Cons:
  • Limited maximum cargo capacity, lacks some features found in the other minivans.

I needed a full size SUV. My wife wanted a Minivan. Finally both of our wish got fulfilled how?. You guessed it right! We bought 2002 MPV ES. Its great minivan which looks and feels like a SUV. It has all most all the features of Odyssey yet it is lot cheaper than Odyssey and readily available to drive it home same day unlike Odyssey where you have to wait at least 3 months. We love the drive and comfort.

  • The Best Mini-Van - Its a 10! - 2002 Mazda MPV

This is my 2nd MPV in one year! The 1st one was T-boned at 50+ mph on th passenger side where my daughter was sitting. The vehicle that hit us was a Toyota Pickup that had to be towed away. The MPV drove away with all my passengers (4 plus myself alive and well)! This vehicle is the best handing, best braking, best use of space I have seen, plus saved by daughters life. I have looked and driven the others and the MPV feels like I am in a well built car not a Van. Both my wife and I love it.

I thoroughly enjoy my 2002 MPV LX. We were on our way to purchase a 2002 Camry XLE(we have a 2000 and sold our 1994 Camry) and passed the Mazda dealership. I had read the consumer reviews on the MPV and wanted to check it out for myself. Though our salesman was definitely lackluster, I was truly impressed with what Mazda had to offer...so impressed that I was swayed to buy the MPV- it gave me room for more passengers(it can be a tight squeeze in the last row of seats, but it beats taking separate cars) and the nimbleness of a car. The body is stylish and sharp-the exterior lighting package adds a sporty look. I dont feel like Im driving a van at all.

We recently purchased a 2002 ES with leather, cd changer, tinted windows, roof rack, compass, and DVD system. We have put almost 2,500 miles on it so far, the wife and I and our 3 dogs love it.

This is the best van out there for the money when all the issues are factored... as long as you dont *have* to have a large van, which the MPV isnt. Best handling, best accelerating, best looking, imho.

Ive had this vehicle about a month. It drives very well and handles much more like a car than a van. The van gets a lot of compliments for its styling and the features. I bought the LX with the luxury and security packages, roof rack, cassette, and rear step bumper. Overall, its a great, sporty mini-van.

After agonizing over which van to buy for weeks,it finally came down to the Honda or the Mazda. However the waiting list for a Honda and not being able to test drive it turned me off.Mazda with its 0% financing was a great insentive.I am not in the least bit sorry in my decision. The ride is as good as must cars and the handling is out of this world. It is tight with good exceleration.Having formerly owned a Chey Venture the MPV seems like a luxury car.None of those annoying little problems and noises that always seem to have the Venture in the shop all the time.To me it was a great buy for the price,

Ive had the vehicle for a couple of months now and I could not be happier. It great for the family and a little sportier than the larger vans on the market.

Generally spirited, despite its "inferior" engine size. Marvelous handling--more like a touring car than a van. Extremely well laid-out interior, and a price thats unbeatable. A lot of bang for the buck. And the new one, with the larger engine, goes like a bat.
