This Year's Model Updates:

Mazda adds power to the MPV in the form of a 200-horsepower V6 engine governed by a five-speed automatic transmission, which is just what the doctor ordered for this previously underpowered minivan. The MPV also gains power-sliding doors, available 17-inch alloy wheels, traction control, an improved braking system and revised suspension tuning.

Pros:
  • Compact and maneuverable, confident handling manners, roll-down windows in sliding doors.
Cons:
  • Limited maximum cargo capacity, lacks some features found in the other minivans.

Good ride. Good gas mileage. A comfortable ride and easy to drive. This is a smaller minivan and handles very well. The only downside to this van is that it does not hold its value very well.

I love my van, what can I say others havnt. Just got back from a trip cross country, great gas mileage, 391.7 was the farthest I ever took it. Very satisifed Customer, want to upgrade to sunroof and fog lights. I will be a repeat buyer.

I really wanted a large station wagon, but no one makes those anymore. The MPV comes the closest to what we wanted. I LOVE the MPV..and we have a pretty stripped down LX model. Fun to drive, too.

We had our mind set on Sienna for months because I have driven nothing but Toyota. It only took one recent ride in my friends MPV though to change my mind. We also had an excellent experience at the dealership--something we were not getter at the Toyota dealerships we visited. No, bigger is not better, better is better.

I like the handling and ride; Overall looks both interior and exterior; impressed with interior room. Power is more than adequate - gets up and goes. Does have wind noise which (I think) is attributed to luggage rack. More wind noise when sun roof open but tolerable.

  • Protege/MPV - 2002 Mazda MPV

My first experience with a Mazda vehicle was my neighbors 1992 Protege LX with 175,000 miles on it. My GM vehicle with 80,000 miles on it had broken down, and I had to use her car to go get parts. I had so much fun in that car with 175,000 miles on it. It also felt better put together than my GM vehicle. Since I was in the market, I immediately researched and purchased a 2000 Protege ES. I am now a proud owner of a 2002 Coastal Blue MPV ES, and I feel just a strongly about it. Just as the Protege is the most fun small car, the MPV is the most fun minivan. The fact that it looks so good only cinches the deal in my opinion.

  • Excellent hauler for a small family - 2002 Mazda MPV

Test drive one & youll know what the rave is all about. Smooth, powerful, quiet, & with a combination of functional elements that you wont find in any other minivan. Build quality is excellent (the only Japanese minvan that is actually built in Japan) with ergonomics that is as good or better than Hondas.

  • Much More Than I Expected - 2002 Mazda MPV

I started out loathing all mom-mobile minivans but this Mazda MPV ES has changed all that. Quick, nimble, comfortable and economical (29-30mpg @ 60mph), I dont really miss my Mercedes. The ES model is comfortable to drive on long trips and the upscale radio pulls in more stations than my Mercedes ever did. The power sliding doors and fold-under 3rd seat are extremely convenient, as are the slide-together 2nd row seats (make them a single bench or 2 buckets). Theres always enough power on tap, especially off the line, and passing power seems more than adequate. Its size makes it ideal for fitting in a garage with room to spare. All-in-all, Id buy it again.

1st van we ever owned. Other rides are a Saab Aero and a Land Rover. MPV is fun and sporty enough for everyday use. Love the car-like handling and it has enough power to make the driving fun. Sun roof and working back windows are a plus.

Owned for 2 weeks, we love this MPV ES, it handles and accelerate very well. It has comfortable ride, just that wind noise above 50mph, but it could be jut the roofrack
