This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, power sliding doors are an option for both the LX and ES trim levels. A towing package and a cargo organizer are two other new options. Also, an alarm and engine immobilizer are now part of a security package, and a cassette player is available on the ES trim level. The LX trim now rides on 16-inch wheels. Inside, floor and cargo mats are now standard on both trim levels, while outside, you'll see a new exhaust tip.

Pros:
  • Compact and maneuverable, confident handling manners, roll-down windows in the sliding doors.
Cons:
  • Limited maximum cargo capacity, lacks some features found in the other minivans.

  • This minivan kicks ass!!! - 2003 Mazda MPV

When I decided to trade in my 2001 CR-V for a minivan, I wanted to make sure I would get the ample space I needed, but without sacraficing the looks and reliability. Guess what? This van kicks its ass!!! Everything about it is fantastic. The side by slide seating, fold down rear bench seat, alloy wheels,CDplayer, and beautiful handling absolutely won me over. No other minivan can compare. Although I bought this primarily for my wife and kids, honestly i cant wait to get behind the wheel!!

My wife and I were interested in purchasing an Odyssey as our first van, but came across the MPV in the Consumer Report mag. Read and research this vehicle and was impressed by the reviews and safety features. The wife and I stopped by a local dealer and checked it out and my wife fell in love with it. A week later we bought it at dealer cost (try to negotiate below invoice - Dealer holdback of $459). I just can not stop loooking at our new van. The design ROCKS!!!!

Recently purchased an LX and am very happy with it. I bought quite a few options. I also wanted leather but wasnt impressed by the factory leather on the ES so instead had dealer (via a contractor) install nicer quality leather for the same cost; did the same with the DVD -- had Circuit City install a more recent Audiovox unit (w/TV tuner) for about $300 less than dealer would have charged (despite buying a 5 yr. warranty).

  • I want to love this van, BUT - 2003 Mazda MPV
    By -

I did alot of research before purchasing this van. Initially,I loved the van-this was our first van purchase and we loved the flexibility in seating, comfort, space, styling, etc. I waited until we drove 5,000 miles before writing this review. There are two strange noises when I apply the brakes-one is an occasional popping sound from the front and another noise from the rear. The dealer thought it might be the tires making that sound (yea-right). I will be taking it in next week. I wouldnt feel comfortable recommending this van until I see how it performs over an extended period of time e.g. after three years.

  • Perfect Van - 2003 Mazda MPV

This is a great van, excellent options and pricing. Dealer was great to work with, pricing done via the internet. Service department has been outstanding. The dvd player is awesome and worth the money if you have kids. Didnt even look at other vans, loved the size and sporty look. Owned Dodge Caravan, nice but not the image for the sporty van we were looking for, switched to Mazda, known longterm quality and longevity.

  • A good reliable van! - 2003 Mazda MPV

Bought this van used in 2004 with 34k miles. Has been a great van. Two problems worth mentioning: The transmission has a rough shift from time to time. And I had some engine work done 2 years ago. Now I have 116k on it and no other complaints. Thinking of selling it due to my plan to take a long road trip this summer. Not sure. I would highly recommend this van. Handles like a car-better then any others I have driven. Has held its value rather well.

  • MPV out-STANDS other minivans - 2003 Mazda MPV

Looking for a car with a decent amount of room, cargo space, ground clearance at an unbeatable value, we landed on a 2003 Mazda MPV LX. This SUV look-a-like has great handling, space with a decent amount of power. taking long road trips can be a bit of a hassle with the seats;riding for more than an hour, you get a numb feeling in your rear. The rotten egg smell of the sulfur was there for a while but quickly vanished. Great minivan for a small family and an optional rear-air conditioning is a must!

  • One solid family mover - 2003 Mazda MPV

We bought this van new 3 years ago and 50K miles later we have had no problems. This is very refreshing after our last van, a 98 Windstar was one problem after another. Pick-up is adequate. It cruises down the highway very well.

  • Excellent Choice for a Mini Van - 2003 Mazda MPV
    By -

We purchased the MPV approximately three weeks ago. At first, we thought the van would be too small for our three growing girls. We test drove some used vans. Also looked at the Nissan Quest but decided a little too much money for what we wanted. We decided to test drive the MPV. Instantly, we felt very comfortable and realized this would be adequate for our family. We were hooked. The van rides very smooth and the features included are great. Would recommend looking into the MPV.
