  • a good buy - 1999 Mazda 626

A great college car for me until I recently plowed a deer and totalled the car and deer. Great for carrying 4-5 people with ample space. Nice pick up and smooth metal brakes. Lasted through many long hauls across the Nevada desert without the transmission problems that my 2000 626 had.

  • Great Car - 103,000 Miles So Far - 1999 Mazda 626
    By -

I purchased this car new. It currently has 103,000 miles and so far Ive only had to pay for routine maintenace..with the exception of the door seals. It did have a couple of repairs while under warranty: Clock spring in steering wheel and CV joints. Mazda auto shops were a pain to work with. Had to take car back several times with both problems before they were fixed. Different Mazda shops.

The vehicle has been nothing but reliable. The four cylinder automatic is adequate, but not fast. The cabin noise is more than it should be on rouch asphalt. The interior ergonomics and passenger comfort at excellent. The emergency handling is very good.

  • Falling Apart - 1999 Mazda 626

My 626 was my first vehicle. This was a great started car, very reliable. However, as soon as it neared 80,000 miles things started snowballing. I had belt problems causing acceleration problems, to the point that it was unsafe to drive. This was a minor repair compared to the transmission I had to replace at 95,000 miles. It was running smoothly then just gave out one day. I was told by a local mechanic this is a very common issue. Mine was the third 99 Mazda 626 the shop had seen this year for the same issue. Since the transmission was replaced Ive had major problems with the a/c and battery. The car just shut off going 40 mph down the highway today. I am officially retiring this vehicle

  • Nice car, bad transmission - 1999 Mazda 626

Very nice and comfortable family sedan. Gets over 30mpg. Down side, auto transmission failed at 80,000 miles and cost $3500 to replace at dealer and still is not right. Due to possible design flaw, transmission overheats during extended highway use causing failure. Dont buy unless it has a transmission cooler in front of radiator.

  • Worst car you could buy - 1999 Mazda 626
    By -

This is by far the most unreliable car you could purchase. This car has racked up over $8 grand in repairs, every other month something goes wrong. The quality of the vehicle is beyond horrible. In addition to top it off Mazda USA headquarters are the rudest and most unprofessional people to ever work with. They dont back their vehicles at all and dont care what is going on. This car gives a new meaning to a lemon. I have had the steering rack, boots, oil leaks, hoses, fan, motor, radiator, thermostat, O2 sensor, EGR service, and much more done to this. Mazda is the worst company to do business with and this is the last Mazda I would ever purchase or recommend take your money elsewhere.

  • still "zoomin" - 1999 Mazda 626

A wonderfully reliable workhorse. Never give it a thought, just get in and go. Comparisons to Accord/Camry/Etc. Are obvious given the price point, but I argue the 626, at least the LX V6, does it better and with tremendous amounts of style or the competition. Everytime I stroll towards the car in a crowded parking lot--I never see a prettier package without spending $20,000 more! It is a real looker! With the leather/moonroof/power-out- the-yingyang combo, you would be pressed to find as well heeled a car for double the money!

  • Great valure - 1999 Mazda 626

Although it has absolutely now power in the 4 cyl. It has been very reliable. Besides oil and gas I have spent no money on the car. I put lots of miles on the car and it still runs well. same features as camry or accord at much lower price. Could look more sporty.

  • Not too Shabby - 1999 Mazda 626

At times I wish I could buy another car only because I like to have a new car all the time (but Im not rich) Maybe its not as stylish as others but its not a bad looking car I have spruced it up a bit with a spoiler, added wood trim around dash, radio, shifter also updated the grill with the 2000 model grill (BIGGER Mazda logo) and added some chrome molding around front and rear bumpers and it looks great. Next a nice set of rims and that should be all. Otherwise no real complaints, replaced timing belt, brakes and 2 sensors (normal stuff)

  • I love it - 1999 Mazda 626

I love my 1999 Mazda 626! I drove it home 100 miles the first night I owned it and fell in love with it! I purchased it to replace my 1992 Accord that bit the dust. My friends love the swinging air vents. The car runs great and looks decent for Mazda styling. I never expected to be so satisfied with it!
