STAY AWAY FAR AWAY - 1998 Mazda 626
By lsas - February 13 - 2:00 amTHE TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP. MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 80,000 MILES AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FIVE TIMES SINCE HAVING IT FIXED (THE FIRST TIME IN DECEMBER 2001). IT IS NOW JANUARY 2003 AND GUESS WHAT MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWO WEEKS GOING ON THREE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT FOR THE FIFTH TIME.

Had to buy it, but not unhappy! - 1999 Mazda 626
By FourPanMan - December 8 - 10:00 amI leased this car back in 1999 - the only V6 5-speed in the entire state of Florida - and now its time to turn it in. One problem, I have 87,000 miles on it and was only allowed 36k. However, Im not unhappy about buying the car. Its fast, handles well, gets great mileage, and aside from basic maintenance, Ive put a total of $25 into it. Ive outrun more cars than I care to admit and survived one pretty serious accident.

More Trouble Than My Three Kids! - 1999 Mazda 626
By Samantha Rector - November 21 - 9:56 pmI bought the car with 60,000 miles. And in two weeks of owning the car the transmission went out. The car was under a 30 day warranty so the dealership paid for a rebuilt transmission to put into the car. Less than a year later the transmission that was put in went out. I had to pay $1,800.00 to have another transmission put in (this is the third transmission in this car). I had to take back 6 months later because my car would not go into reverse. The mechanic told me that the transmission in the Mazdas are consistently failing. A/C stopped working. Pulley is going out. Trading in for a Infiniti.

Very Reliable Car - 2001 Mazda 626
By missy - November 8 - 2:33 amThere is nothing fancy about this car but I have had no problems at all with it. Just keep the oil changed and this baby will run forever. It is very comfortable inside with lots of leg room. The leather seats still show very little signs of wear on them. The interior has really held up over the years. I am the only owner of this car but with proper maintenance I think it will run forever! The engine does jump a little which no one seems to be able to fix. But other than that it is great!

Totally Disappointed - 2000 Mazda 626
By mr_misled - November 6 - 2:58 pmPurchased the 626 used at 60k mi. Now have around 173k and on the 3rd transmission, which is now going out after 31k miles. Thats $2,200 for the transmission that lasted less than 2yrs. Beyond that, Ive went through many a hot months without AC, after spending 800 to repair it. But hey, it has an oscillating vent that still works!! Truly a bad piece of machinery.

not a problem yet - 1998 Mazda 626
By laurel malave - October 21 - 2:00 amI enjoy this car, but I am just hitting the mileage point (after 55,000) where i may or may not have problems. For example, the weather stripping has come off the doors several times (and will not stay glued). Also, the doors are not latching shut as easily as they used to. I have to slam them hard to get them to shut. Otherwise, i have not had any significant repairs as of date, just normal maintenence. i love this car, but my family has outgrown it! Reccomended a excellent car for a family of four or less.

over 101000 miles and no breakdowns! - 2002 Mazda 626
By RLC - October 17 - 7:36 amMy 02 626 (4 cyl) just reached its 101000 mile. I am writing a review only to say that I have owned this car since it had 20,000 miles and have NEVER been let down! the engine runs great and all mechanics have run normally. This would make a great used car if you are considering a purchase. Also, the swinging air vents are always a conversation piece.

2002 Mazda 626 - 2002 Mazda 626
By Patrick Collins - September 27 - 10:00 amIts a great car, and I have no complaints except that the A/C compressor had to be replaced a week after delivery due to a leaking seal. Also, the front bumper is misaligned and the dealership has no clue what is wrong with it.
