Junk - 1998 Mazda 626
By Mark Melton - March 13 - 10:00 amHad this car for a year and its been in the shop more than iv seen it. Im on about the 5th transmission. I would have sold it the 2nd time it went out but iv got to drive something. The transmission cost about 1800 bucks, but i got lifetime warrenty with mine luckly, but the company doesnt want to keep replacing it. other than the transmission the car is great. nice seats, awesome vents and it handles good. i wouldnt recommend this car with a 4cyl auto. im getting mine converted to 5spd b/c trans company wont give me anymore autos and then im selling this piece of crap. want something reliable? buy a toyota, honda, or mercedes.

Mazda 626 - 1999 Mazda 626
By slinger - March 10 - 2:00 amThe overall car is a nice style and has a comfortable ride. We found the drivetrain to be unreliable. The head gasket blew at 72,000 miles because the coil pack went bad and check engine light came on. The transmission also went bad at 72,500 and had to be replaced twice (the first replacement kept leaking). We are very dissapointed in this vehicle for that.

Excellent Mid-grade Car - 1999 Mazda 626
By flysandy72 - February 28 - 10:00 amMy 626 has been an excellent car. I found this model with a comfortable leather interior that feels much more expensive. My 4 cylinder could use a bit more power so go for the V6 if you can (later years only offer leather with V6). Only other complaints are road noise and turn radius, two issues I can live with for the price.

Great Car - 2001 Mazda 626
By rondolio - February 25 - 12:33 amThe vehicle has always been a great car for me. I have only had one warranty issue which was resolved easily with the dealership (broken knob for A/C). Anyway this car compares with the Honda Accord without the big price tag.

Dependable transportation with good MPG - 2001 Mazda 626
By Jim - February 4 - 11:13 pmThis is my 2nd 626. I sold my 1998 626 in 2002, and bought a truck. Sold the truck to get higher MPG going back and forth to work. Pros: MPG (29 highway, 24 all-around), dependable, reliable, no problems to date even with 80K miles (had 59K when I bought it). Cons: Ride quality decent, pick-up and transmission arent the greatest (but to be expected with a 4 cylinder); AC isnt strong when idling (again, 4 cylinder issue). Im very happy with this car. Its not fancy, gives a decent ride, has good gas mileage, is dependable, and I can take the family (including 15 and 8 year old) on 4 hours trips with no leg room complaints. It wont create envy of others, but gets you there.

Very Happy!!!!!!! - 2000 Mazda 626
By MintToken - January 16 - 10:00 amI bought this car from my Boss. who had it only 2-months. His wife just got a company car, and with there other car, and Van, one had to go. It is loaded with all, with 5-speed and all the bells etc.I have 35,000 on it and it has been trouble free. It still surprises me with the power it has at just 170 horses. Fine for me.
