Mazda 626 - not worth the money - 2002 Mazda 626
By kristywahoo1 - February 7 - 10:13 pmI bought my Mazda 626 because Ive always thought of Mazda as a company like Toyota or Honda - a company that stands behind its quality cars. I was wrong. I bought my 626 a year ago, and already it needs a transmission. The interior is spacious and borderline elegant, and the exterior is solid and the exterior, sturdy. Mine is only 3 years old, and had a full inspect upon purchase. The car jerks when shifting gears, and its unreliable. Mazda used the same transmission as the 2002 Ford Probe that year, which also was faulty. Beware....Mazda will not take responsibility and provide and extended warranty. They apparently dont want to pay for their mistakes, so their customers have to

Power, economy, reliable & fun - 1999 Mazda 626
By Anita - January 29 - 2:00 amIn 2.5 yrs, 45K miles, have had not a single problem. Zippy 4cyl engine passes anything on the road with power to spare. Fold down rear seats with access to trunk space gives this car unusual versatility. Heat & AC temp adjustments very responsive.

Comes up short but ... - 2000 Mazda 626
By cadjocky - January 29 - 2:00 amMy 2000 626ES was purchased instead of the Honda or Toyota based on price. The car handles great, rides nice, but the engine is too buzzy and quite underpowered. I thought I could get used to that, but I long for more power without seeing the tach at 6000 rpm. The interior looks like a million bucks and I dont think anybody makes a better one in this price range. The transmission is easily the worst feature of the car with rough shifts and an annoying tendancy to slam into gear after coasting. I thought I may have just gotten a bad transmission but after it failed and was replaced by an equally bad shifting transmission I think it is just a bad design.

Decent Car for the Price - 1999 Mazda 626
By Paul71 - January 24 - 10:00 amMy wife has had no problems with her 626. This car is a good Accord/Camry alternative that we were able to buy for thousands less than either of those comparably equipped.

good car - 2000 Mazda 626
By Jacquelyn Beaver - January 16 - 11:46 pmI found that it is a great, reliable car as long as you keep up with oil changes and tune-ups. Its not fancy, but if youre looking for a comfortable car for your passengers, its nice and roomy. It doesnt get as good of gas mileage as I hoped but its not as bad as my Bronco was. Its a great family sedan.

1999 Mazada ES - 1999 Mazda 626
By Doug Turner - January 1 - 10:00 amLiked the car. The 4 cyl lacked power. Main complaint is road noise at any speed.

Sensible Buy - 1999 Mazda 626
By technoguys - December 7 - 10:00 amI bought this car as a used car from dealer. It is a 1999 with 24K miles, for about 13K on road. I have put about 11K miles on it. No probs so far, just regular oil change, 30K service & not a cent more. We did a 2000 miles in four days & it was cool.

Falling Apart - 2001 Mazda 626
By Peddler281 - November 29 - 5:23 amThank goodness for extended warranties! At 35000, but over the 3 years, the rack and pinion was replaced. At 38000 the transmission was replaced. Air conditioner has been making a noise for the past 18 months, but not broken so not repairable under the warranty. Struts are shot even though driving only on good paved roads. Planning on selling as soon as possible.

Not a bad little car - 1999 Mazda 626
By undertaker - October 27 - 10:00 amIve had pretty good luck with my 626. Car has very little pep, but continues to trot along. I can tell the transmission is going to go soon. Ive not had anything go wrong with this car outside of very minor things (power antenna stays up, clock set button doesnt work, one dash light is out). No big deal. Fit and finish are pretty bad on the interior, but Im a pretty big guy and admittedly rough on things.
