This Year's Model Updates:

Lincoln's sport sedan goes into 2003 with more than 500 changes. The V8 sports 28 more horsepower, while the V6 benefits from a 12-horsepower increase. Both engines are controlled by drive-by-wire throttle, and drink slightly less fuel than their 2002 counterparts. Unfortunately, Lincoln decided to kill the five-speed manual that was available with the V6. Meanwhile, the rack and pinion steering has been improved, and Lincoln says it has softened the ride without degrading the car's handling abilities. In terms of safety, Lincoln has added a BrakeAssist function, side curtain airbags (late availability) and power-adjustable pedals. As on the 2003 Jaguar S-Type, a new electronically activated parking brake improves the stowage capability of the center console. Also on the inside, you'll find vastly improved interior materials for the seat and dash, along with little touches like one-touch up and down front windows and a host of new options. Outside you'll find slightly altered fascias front and rear and a host of new wheel choices.

Pros:
  • Confident steering and handling, choice of either a V6 or V8 engine, comfortable and roomy interior, clean exterior design.
Cons:
  • No manual transmission, build quality lags behind German and Japanese competitors.

As an Industrial Designer the styling of the LS was a big plus. The rear wheel drive handling was refreshing as was the V8 power. There have been no maintenance issues in the three years an 35+ thousand miles Ive driven it. The only drawback is the somewhat limited legroom in the back seat.

so i was 9 years old when I first noticed this car ever since then i loved it the look of it the interior everything! fast forward some years and i was 16 looking for my first car i wanted something with v8 speed, wood grain, and nice black leather so thats what i got i bought a 02 ls v8 from a lawyer in ATL with 107xxx and drove it back to Florida where i lived. on the way home a coil went out causing it to misfire a little which was a eazy cheap repair but it was caused by the gasket letting oil into the coils causing them to foul out after that it was all good untill i hit 139xxx ...engine threw a rod and now im out of a car with no resale value

  • Superior Value to BMW530 or BMW540 - 2003 Lincoln LS

Its sad that so much is spent on BMW 5 series, when the top of the line LSV8 premium sport with navigation is such a better value. I shopped BMWs extensively. To match what I bought (leased) ased on $42K ($47K MSRP) would have required the high 50s for a similarly-equipped BMW.
