Cons:
  • Down on power and cargo capacity versus its competitors.

  • Took a chance and it is paying off! - 2005 Kia Sportage

I researched this car and 3 other compact SUVs (CR-V, Rav4, Escape). The Kia was near the bottom in price but head and shoulders above the others in features. The only thing concerning me was the name. Kia doesnt exactly scream reliability...yet. I took a chance thinking the 10 year warranty was a good fall back if things didnt go well. After almost a year and 15k+ miles I am pleased in my choice. Have had no problems with the vehicle, only visit the dealer to change oil every 5k miles as the filter is exotic & expensive at a parts shop. Get compliments all the time on style, people think it is a luxury suv. Didnt want to review early just in case, but after a year this is an awesome buy!

  • Absolutely Awesome! - 2005 Kia Sportage

Great style; smooth ride; roomy functional interior; excellent value. I highly recommend the Sportage for anyone in the market for a compact SUV. Its a great value and some real competition for its Japanese competitor SUVs which cost thousands of dollars more. Kia has a hit here!

  • This Time Kia Got It Right - 2005 Kia Sportage

We had originally considered a 2002 Sportage, but were concerned they were discontinuing the model. Now Im glad I waited. My previous experience with Kia came from owning a Ford Aspire (built by Kia), which gave me 60,000 trouble- free miles, so I knew Kias were reliable. The new Sportage is everything its namesake wasnt: Stylish, safe, well-built and a kick to drive. Not to mention a killer sound system (although a bit heavy on the bass, something classical music doesnt always need). The interior feels upscale, and is more comfortable than the more-expensive competitors I tested. With another New England winter coming (probably next week), I feel confident my Sportage will get me home.

My wife purchased a Sportage after considering the PT Cruiser, CR-V, RAV- 4 and Tucson. The Sportage has excellent fit and finish and seem high quality. It resembles its previous version in name only. I know of no other vehicle offer as much for so little. Well see over the long run. Kia is now squarely middle class.

I just purchased my Kia Sportage, I absolutely love it. Of course I have not had the vehicle long enough to encounter any problems, but I feel confident with the warranty attached to this vehicle I should be driving in style for many years to come.

  • nice car - 2005 Kia Sportage

I recently traded in a 2002 Honda cr-v for a Kia. The reason I traded in the Honda was because of some very annoying rattles in the dash area. Took it in 3 times and it was never found, and thats the problem with rattles. Nothing more than a defect that cant be fixed. Of course, Im hoping the same doesnt happen with the Kia.

  • So far, so good - 2005 Kia Sportage

My wife has an 05 Sportage. The car has been driven almost 2,000 mile during the first month. There are no negatives except the gas mileage could be better. We saw the EPS rating before purchase so there are no suprises. It averages 21 in mixed driving. The Sportage is quiet comfortable and very well assembled. It looks as though the Korean manufaturers are now a serious force for the Japanese and American manufaturers. If you are looking for a small SUV I would recommend test driving the Sportage before making your decision. We compared the CRV side by side with the Sportage (dealer loaned us a new CRV). The CRV is longer. End of advantages for Honda.

  • Kia is stepping up to the plate. - 2005 Kia Sportage

After careful planning and research, I finally bought my 05 Sportage (First one sold in Anchorage). I purchased the Black Cherry EX 4WD with the luxury package for a price of just over 22000. I was very skeptical about buying a Kia or any Asian vehicle (especially since I am from Detroit MI). However the reviews from the pros were considerably good. So after test driving one for myself, I felt I had to buy one (too hard to resist). The Sportage is done very well both inside and out and the luxury package makes it that much better. The engine has good pick-up and go when you need it too! Plus a ten year warranty thats unmatched by most. Kia steps to the plate with a home run hit

  • Bought A Beauty At a Bargain Price - 2005 Kia Sportage

Having owned a 1998 Spotage I was anxious to get my hands on the new and improved model for 2005. It is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I get plenty of looks and questions about it. It has plenty of power for my needs, which includes many long hills to climb, with camping gear.

  • A Fun and Fit Vehicle - 2005 Kia Sportage

This 2005 Sportage is a great small SUV with BIG car feel. It sits and rides comfortably, with a great view of the road. All controls are easy to use and within easy reach. While I cannot yet speak for reliability since my Sportage is only 3200 miles old, I feel that I have an excellent warranty should I ever need to use it. The roadside assistance program is great. I have already had occasion to use it and the response was prompt. The responder did minor damage to open the door, but after some hassles, they reimbursed me for my expenses for repairs. I I think it is best bang for your buck in the small SUV range and I plan to buy another if I ever have the need
