  • Nice vehicle, but! - 2011 Kia Sorento

Excellent purchase price, as well as cooperative dealership. This vehicle is a real head turner. Purchased on 2/22/10 and have had many positive comments. Lives up to its hype re: high seating w/good view of road etc. and fuel mileage is OK, not great, but ok. Ride is a bit hard as are the seats. I went w/heated leather. Not real quiet on road and mine sounds like I may have a loose shock up front. (Will be checked by dealer) Front doors need to be a bit larger, for access. Im 6 and must be careful not to bump my head when getting in. Have all the options, Nav, Satellite Infinity radio, bluetooth, homelink, 18" chrome wheels. So far, am happy w/the vehicle.

  • Decent car overall - 2011 Kia Sorento

This SUV has great features but there were a few significant issues for me. The windshield seemed very small and the A pillars very wide reducing visibility and causing a claustrophobic effect. Also, the back up camera image being in the rear view mirror was extremely distracting and made it more difficult to have full visibility to safely back up. Additionally, the steering was so tight it almost felt as if there was no power steering. I thought at first it was just a problem with the first Sorento I drove, but after driving several, it seems to be normal for that vehicle. Its generally a nice car, spacious, I just didnt feel safe driving it.

  • Great Mid-sized SUV - 2011 Kia Sorento

Live in Colorado. Really like the power of the 6-cylinder engine in the mountains. Fuel economy is really pretty good for the type of driving I do, also. Getting about 20 MPG. Love the panoramic sunroof, audio system, and GPS. Bluetooth and Speech recognition work well also. All wheel drive has worked fine in the snow so far. Car is brand new, so there arent a lot of accessories yet. 276 HP engine moves this along well.

  • Do not recommend - 2011 Kia Sorento

Spent $30,000 for brand new Kia Sorento. Since purchasing it in March 2010, it has been back to the dealership on five different occassions for two different mechanical issues. Biggest issue is it feels like the car is "downshifting" constantly at speeds around 25 mph. Was just told yesterday that car already needs a new drive shaft. Second, the car has a constant rattle that sounds like its coming from under the car on the passenger side. Was told that would most likely be dealt with in an upcoming recall due to bad struts!! I find it totally unexceptable that this 2011 car has already had all these issues. Worst purchase of my entire life!

  • Things you should know about the 2011 Sorento - 2011 Kia Sorento

Let me start by saying it has great gas mileage and plenty of room. The last year(2nd year of ownership) has been very frustrating. I drove it off the lot new. Folding back seats have been a major issue on never working right and breaking. It took over a week to get parts to fix seat from Manufacuture. Starting seems to be a problem-starter replaced and original battery.

Bought the KIA in Sept of 2010. Originally went for Hyundai, but after road testing both, decided on the KIA. Have never regretted the choice. Good combined mileage ( we have V6) and good performance. Look forward to taking long trip to really appreciate the vehicle.

  • Quality Lacking - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Well was really happy at first with our 2011 Sorento, then the problems started. Shuttering sunroof, burning smells, a/c vents were missing their components, and the night time running lights and interior lights all went out. Spoke to the dealership several times, and they actually gave us a different new Sorento. Now this one has the same shuttering sun roof and the console chrome is peeling off and its not even a week old. There is no quality control coming out of Atlanta, beware of these first year vehicles... There are bugs everywhere.

  • Rear sunroof Problem! - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Leaving the lot in new sorento and realized the rear sunroof cover wouldnt open. Salesman couldnt open it either but assured me Service could take care of it with no problem. 5 weeks later I am still dealing with this. It is a Kia problem that the dealership has never seen before although apparently there are several cars on lot with this problem. They had to take the entire interior roof lining out and redo the whole sunroof. Two days to fix. Never drive it off the lot with a problem, even if they tell you its an easy fix.

  • Great Value, but you get what you pay for. - 2011 Kia Sorento

We have a 2005 Sorento with a 158,000 relatively trouble free miles. So when we went car shopping, looking at a new Kia seemed logical. We have had this 2011 Sorento for 2 weeks and 749 miles. We get about 22.5 mpg due to the hilly commute to work. We chose the Sorento after test driving a 2009 Cadillac CTS, Optima Turbo S, and a cool white tiger Soul. We sat in a Forte but deemed it too small for our comfort. We couldnt help but compare all the different ride qualities to the Cadillac CTS. Surprisingly the Sorentos ride quality is comparable to the Cadillac, although somewhat noisier. The Kumo tires are good but occasionally sound like over inflated balloons when driving over rough road.

  • Follow-up - 2011 Kia Sorento

I currently have 45,000 miles on the Sorento and interior plastic is starting to crack in the door panels. The car is more hesitant in acceleration than it was previously and the original Kuhmo tires are by far the worse tires that I have ever driven in snow. The summer performance tires that I have had on rear wheel drive cars got around better than this awd vehicle. Got new Michelins this winter, but no snow to test them yet.
