This Year's Model Updates:

The Sorento is an all-new SUV from Kia. Larger and more powerful than the pint-size Sportage (which is expected to return for 2004 after a 2003 hiatus, by the way), the Sorento straddles the emerging middle ground between small SUVs and midsize SUVs. And it does so while offering interested buyers true off-road ability. Key competitors are the Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V, the Jeep Liberty, the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota Highlander.

Pros:
  • Great value, class-leading warranty coverage, long list of standard features, solid construction, true off-road capability.
Cons:
  • Engine needs more power, subpar fuel economy, seat upholstery could stand improvement.

I don"t think you can find a better SUV For the price with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I have a black one and it looks very classy. Im stopped in parking lots by curious people wanting to know how I like it and that it looks like a Lexus or some other suv.The exceleration is great and its fun to drive.Ive had it on very muddy norther Michigan back roads and the 4x4 is great. So Iguess Ill give it high marks so far.

I owned a Sportage before buying my Sorento. I enjoyed my Sportage very much but couldnt wait until Kia came out with a 6 cylinder SUV. People stop me all the time and comment on my Sorento and ask millions of question. I bought the LX and would be it again in a heartbeat. My son the Ford guy absolutely adores my Sorento and thinks the power rocks for a 6 cylinder and he owns a big 8 cylinder SUV.

Ive always had a sedan and decided I needed an auto that I could use to transport. Was looking at the Lexus RX300, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot when our long-time Toyota dealer suggested the Kia Sorento. I took it out for a test drive and knew then it was the SUV for me. Its all I expected and then some. Im very please with performance and styling.

I wanted a GMC Envoy but when I compared the Envoy to the Sorrento, the Sorrento easly won. Almost the same features for 10000 less. And the look of a Lexus/BMW to boot. No major complaints at the two month mark.

Ive only owned my Sorento a couple of months, but so far I like it.The ride is very good, and it handles decent. The interior is very nice and the quality seems comparable to General Motors, if not better in some aspects. I guess time will tell how this vehicle holds up.

I love my Kia Sorento. I get lots of compliments and everyone says it looks like a Lexus L300 without the high cost. I just took it on a trip up into the mountains of Tennessee and had no problems at all. It handled very well and was fun to drive up and down the mountains. There were three of us and everyone was comfortable. The Luxury Leather package is well worth the extra money.

After researching the SUV market my wife and I slected the Sorrento 4WD EX. At first we were very pleased until about 1 week later. Our Sorrento has been towed to the Dealer 5 times within 65 day period for the same problem. It was disapointing that the problem could not be solved until recently. Given the facts KIA did come through and is looking to replace our Sorrento with a new one. If you ever have to used KIAs Roadside assistance youll be pleased. We got to know them very well and found they were most helpful in our time of need. Even after all of the problems we expirenced we are anxious to get into another Sorrento!

  • Great Value and great fun! - 2003 Kia Sorento

I own a LX470 and its a great car to use. I purchase a Sorento EX diesel as a utility vehicle and now ended up using it more than my LX470. The Sorento is such a fun vehicle to drive with good finishing, thoughtful instrumentation and a quiet and comfortable ride. Being a diesel version, I have no problem with fuel consumption (average of 32 miles per gallon). The commmon rail diesel egine also provides a surprising strong punch which is not much of a difference from that of the 3.5 L V6 engine. (i.e at least 90%). Great value and great fun to use.
