I am owner #2 of a 95 Jeep YJ S, which I bought in 1997. I have used this Jeep in many occupational applications including hauling a light duty trailer for up to 12 hours straight. This Jeep has held up to a remarkable amount of punishment and continues to prove its reliability & ability, & even its safety. I have been in 2 very dangerous accidents (75mph roll-over & T-boned by a 60mph runaway truck) in this Jeep with no injury and astonishingly minimal damage to the vehicle. Mine has over 177K miles and is still going strong. Other than routine maintenance, only repairs have been a replaced alternator, clutch, & steering gear. It looks/works great year-round, & is a blast to drive. Go Jeep.

We bought this Jeep from a young lady who took almost no care of it and it still ran great after changing the fluids and tuning it up. Its not the vehicle for a long commute and the top can be tedious to put up but its a great deal of fun and you cant beat the way these things hold their value. Very rugged and very easy to work on. The short wheelbase is a detriment to a smooth highway ride but makes for almost unbelievable maneuverability. I couldnt afford a TJ but this has served me very well.

  • I LOVE IT - 1995 Jeep Wrangler

I have wanted a jeep from the time I started to drive. Now at age 37 I finally have one. I love it (and so do my 9 and 5 year old sons). I knew going in to it that the ride will be ruff and bumpy. Hey it is a Jeep and you have to expect it, if you expect a nice smooth ride do not get a Jeep. I have the Rio Grande, it is all stock. The MPG is good for the inline four. It is a great all around Jeep. I use it as a daily driver and always in the desert on the weekends (live in Phoenix). I wish I had a Jeep years ago. I plan to keep it for many more years.

Very Reliable. Bought it with 105k miles 6 months ago. Now has 120,000 miles and the only replacements Ive made is the radiator, motor mounts, and drive shaft yolk. I drive this vehicle hard. Only typical problem I have that any older vehicle has is that in extreme hot weather idling and geared down it tends to run a little hot. the longest Ive drove it straight is 5 hours on 1 tank of gas.

  • Great purchase - 1995 Jeep Wrangler

I purchased this vehicle with the right mindset: a second vehicle, to enjoy off road and around town with my son. Ive enjoyed every minute in my Jeep. Simple to maintain, reliable, and cheap to operate. Highway travel is kept to a minimum, due to road noise and bikini top. Other than that, this vehicle is a joy. Four cylinder is slow off the line, but more than adequate for casual driving and off pavement fun. Gas mileage is reasonable considering gearing (4.10s, stock) and boxy body style. If youre seeking a cheap, around town vehicle, or a great little convertible, its hard to beat an older body style Jeep. And theyre darn near impossible to stop off road.

  • Very Fun! - 1995 Jeep Wrangler

Im 17 and I was so lucky to get a Jeep Wrangler for my first car. They are so much fun to drive and one of the most versitile vehicles on the road. If its hot, just pop off the top and doors, and if its cold, Jeep heaters are second to none, it will fry you. But overall I wouldnt trade it for anything else. All my friends think its the coolest car. One reason is because of the sweet 33 by 30 inch tires I put on it with alloy rims. This SUV rocks!

The JEEP Wrangler is a true original. Ive just moved on from the one that I bought new in 1996. It now has 82,000 miles and is going to be a third car for a family with a new teenage driver. Overall, Ive had no unexpected problems with the vehicle. Great in the snow, Awesome in the summer, but not good for long trips or windy days. Gas mileage is ok. Fun to drive around the neighborhood; would make an excellent second car.

I bought my jeep with 175K on the odometer and a broken transmission. It now has 220k on it. I repaired the trans and drove it until it broke again. The AX-5 is notorious for being weak. I replaced it with an AX- 15 (from a 6cyl) which is much stronger by using a dodge dakota bell housing and a Camaro clutch disk. This transmission should have come in all 4cyl jeeps (it fits like factory). If you are in to offroading and like to work on your rig or will drive it reasonably about town a Rio Grande is the jeep for you. Jeep nuts always change the driveline, so it really doesnt really matter what you start with.

  • Better than the new ones - 1995 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

Previously had a 2001, this one rides a little rougher, but the simplicity and better mileage make it much better in almost every other regard. And so inexpensive to purchase as well. I hope to keep driving it for a long time since you cant get a car like this anymore.

  • "1995 Rio Grande" - 1995 Jeep Wrangler

I always wanted a Wrangler due to the fact you can drive with the top down and doors off. Im 24, I love to mountain bike and snowboard. The ride is very rigid on the highway and if you lift it, it gets a little worse. I opted for the 4" Rough Country lift and its really stiff now. The mileage does suffer after you get bigger tires. 190 miles to the tank on 33s and about 220 miles with 31s. 13-gal tank. The off roading makes up for it. Space is VERY limited. If you can afford one get a 99 or above; so much better with coil springs. 4 cylinder is cheaper for a reason. They got no power at all. Only in low range off road does the gearing make up for it. I have all the tops and doors and they all come in handy.
