Cons:
  • Gear whine, brakes feel slow to respond.

I bought this Jeep with 98000 miles on it. At first I was skeptical to say the least. I was wrong. It is slightly under powered but I think that is solved with the v8. I use this Jeep as a work vehicle and my only complaint is that it wont hold all my tools. I am impressed.

Overall, the Jeep is beautiful! Plenty of power and it gets me where I want to go. Now, if Jeep would fix the brake problems and get that stupid clicking sound out of my steering column I would be happier. I still think I will take my business elsewhere for my next vehicle...GERMANY!

  • Its not perfect, but its good. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased because a previous Grand Cherokee had over 300,000 miles before it was wrecked. Few problems. Brakes need to be replaced, passenger side heater failed and was expensive to fix. The holders for the hood dont work. Blew both front speakers in the dash. Dont like the fact that the cd changer is in the back. Door seals dont fit correctly. There is an issue with the oil pressure sensor. On rare occasions it says it drops to 0, then the car shuts off, but nothing is wrong with it; if you rev the engine it keeps the pressure up. The gas mileage stinks, but its a V8 so its expected.

I OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND I LOVE IT!! HOWEVER I TOO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW MOTORS GOING OUT. IT IS A COMFORTABLE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THEY ARE OVER PRICED.

I read all the reviews about the Jeep here before purchasing one...and theyre all about reliability, so, I purchased and extra long warranty, covering almost everything, so I feel confident everything will be taken care of should the need arise...besides that, what can I tell you? I love this SUV!!! I love the leather interior, the engine (4.7 V8) is VERY responsive, very smooth, althought it likes to consume a lot of gas...(Im getting around 14mpg on the city...) all the amenities inside are great! to all of you out there in the doubt: go for it, but purchase extended warranties!!

  • Good -- But not quite what it could be - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

A darned good vehicle to wrap yourself in lots of safety steel. "Built like a Jeep" -- with good reason: it has honorably withstood serious bangups. But...glitches like rapidly wearing brake rotors and transmission flukes make it less than inspirational for assurance of maintainence free driving. Like many SUVs, it seems a bit tippy -- and a whole lot less nibble than a comparably priced sedan. A great car to lease for 3 years...and then let someone pick up wiht repair prices. But...while you lease it, it has a strong sense of encased safety.

I wish I would have believed the reviews before I bought my 2000 Grand Cherokee. Nice car but things just keep breaking. Like everybody else; door-locks, brakes, weather stripping, and fuel pump. If you buy this car I GUARANTEE you will be spending money on stipid repairs.

This vehicle has been maintained consistently. I have changed oil every 5000 miles and brought to dealer for follow up requirements. I live in NYC and only use the the Jeep from June through September to drive upstate to our summer townhouse. The Jeep otherwise is always garaged. The Jeep has saved us in some major snowstorms. I have leased this vehicle since 2000 and am totally happy with it. My company has been paying monthly $300 and now my lease is up and they wont let me re-lease ... so I hate giving up the Jeep.
