Jeep expands the Grand Cherokee lineup for 2006 with the addition of a range-topping Overland trim level. It's been fitted with more standard luxury features and 5.7-liter V8. New standard features on all models include stability control and one-touch up-down front windows. Newly optional on the Laredo is the Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system and an off-road package.
- Three available engines, excellent off-road ability, balanced handling, simple controls.
- Low-quality interior materials, small backseat, poor gas mileage with the big V8, ride can be bouncy over ruts.

Worlds Fastest SUV? - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bryant Davis - July 16 - 2:00 amIf you dont think this SRT8 isnt fast, go race a new Porsche Cayenne Twin Turbo S with 525 HP. This new Jeep is faster to 60 MPH. You will have him by better than half a car length. At 3500 miles it really starts to run and even the gas mileage picked up a mile per gallon around town. Now if I can figure out how to get a supercharger on this Jeep.

Expected more - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By euroman71 - July 15 - 12:10 amLeased 06 Grand Cherokee with 3.7L V6 engine and auto transmission. First 30 days spent back at the dealer to fix these issues: Leakage through left A-pillar, turned out to be windshield seal; engine light on, fixed once, came on again 3 days later, fixed one more time; extremely unpleasant rattle on left side of IP, dealer tried to fix it twice, it got better, but once in a while youd steal hear it. Gas mileage averaged 16 mpg mostly city driving. Positive features: loved during winter time, great on snow, much quieter interior, good driving dynamics, good power. Glad it was a lease, just turned it in and walked away from the dealer.

By Melissa - June 10 - 3:33 amI just purchased the Laredo 65 yr anniversary edition. Its a great looking car. I like all the features. Ive heard jeeps drive rough so I didnt expect to much comfort before test driving. Im pretty content with it. However, Ive had it for 2 days and Im noticing some no-nos already! The problems Im seeing already is the low tire pressure light comes on at random. But the big thing is the seat belt light comes on and chimes through out the entire ride even with my seat belt on and nooo weight in the passenger seat! Im in the process of getting it fixed (hopefully), but I just wanted to put those problems out there just in case somebody else had the same issues

Vehicle - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kbyrum - May 21 - 4:13 amI got my Jeep a little over a month ago and I am already having problems with it. About 2 weeks after I got the thing it started dinging saying the hatchback was open so I got out and tried closing it several times, but that didnt work and my entire drive home from Memphis, the car was dinging but the door was NOT open! Also, the car alarm would randomly go off and a couple of times I have simply sat at a stop light then not been able to go once the light turned green, which scared the crap out of me! I finally got it to go by restarting it. The wiring is horrible in this car and Im afraid to drive it now because it shuts off.I will definitely be paying a visit to the dealership.

By coolbreezesd5555 - May 19 - 11:23 pmI love my Jeep SRT8. I own a number of pricey vehicles and more times than not, I choose my SRT8 Jeep. It is so powerful, quick, with a great sound! I love to throw my bike in the back and head to the mountains or beach - fast! Its fun, its affordable and its rare. By the way the seats are the most comfortable I have ever enjoyed in a vehicle under $100K. Buy it now, before the Feds find out how much fun we are having!

Repairs - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By CRem - March 31 - 9:43 pmI am 16,000 miles in my SRT8 and while fuel economy (12.7mpg average) stinks, it is a ton of fun to drive. A little stiff if you are in the backseat for anything over 15 minutes. On a down note, I had to have a rattle fixed at 1200 miles, the side door panel is installed slightly tilted and I see it every time I look in the side mirror which bugs me. Worst of all the brakes needed to be replaced at 15,900. Because of the Brembo brakes you cant get normal "lifetime" warranty brakes. You have to get the Brembo pads which have no guarantee. All in, brake pads and to have the rotors cut cost $1100. Ouch, will have to do it again most likely in another 15,000 miles.

Love to Drive my Grand Cherokee - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Paul - March 19 - 7:46 pmJust came off a 2400 mile trip. The I found the Grand Cherokee comfortable enough to drive 14 hours straight switching drivers. We hit very heavy rains at times driving home and I always felt the Jeep was stable with the ESP and the Quadra Drive system. The inside cabin was comfortable, and all the controls were easy to reach. I am looking forward taking the Jeep off roading.

Do not recommend - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Disappointed - January 8 - 10:00 amWe bought this Jeep Sept. 15 last year and it is now Oct. 4 of the following year. One month after we bought it the engine light came on, when we took it in they had to replace both catalytic converters. Last month the engine light came on again and they said one of the converters was bad so they replaced it, the day after we got it back the light came back on and they had to replace the other one again. The next day after we got it back the light came on again and they had to replace the oxygen sensor, then we got it back and sure enough the light came on again the next day so I took it to another shop who told me that I need either an oxygen sensor or my catalytic converters are bad again.
