This Year's Model Updates:

Jeep expands the Grand Cherokee lineup for 2006 with the addition of a range-topping Overland trim level. It's been fitted with more standard luxury features and 5.7-liter V8. New standard features on all models include stability control and one-touch up-down front windows. Newly optional on the Laredo is the Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system and an off-road package.

Pros:
  • Three available engines, excellent off-road ability, balanced handling, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Low-quality interior materials, small backseat, poor gas mileage with the big V8, ride can be bouncy over ruts.

  • What an interior - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After having three separate friends owning Jeep Grand Cherokees (and having to hear how fun, and convenient they were), I decided to trade in my 2004 1500 Ram with the Hemi. In exchange I purchased an 06 Jeep GC Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. With the employee discount and fair trade in value of my truck, I think I got a very good deal. I couldnt be any happier. The ride is excellent, the pick up is great. But it still has a high center of gravity, so I wouldnt recommend going fast on those turns, lol. After 1200 miles, I am finally starting to realize why my friends were happy with their Jeeps.

  • Its got a Hemi - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Own a 00 Mountaineer with V8, drove a new Explorer, Tribeca & Murano. Jeep & Murano are very close in comfort & performance. Jeep offered 0% financing. Jeep won. Hemi is great! Never believe the mileage figure on the sticker. All SUVs and crossovers in this class get close to the same mileage. I did a lot of research of cars in this class. Test drove a lot. Spent a little more than I had planned but I feel it will be worth it. Read the reviews by Car & Driver, Edmunds, etc. 06 is coming out on top. Get the HEMI - really a blast to drive.

  • Better than a Ford! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Have had the rig about a month. Traded in a Ford F150 Crew Cab which I hated from the day I drove it home. Jeep is fantastic in almost every aspect except fuel economy around town. Plenty of power and handles like a dream in the snow and ice. Great seat heaters. Great sound system. Turns on a dime. Got the inferno red which generates lots of compliments. Worth the $200 extra. Very quiet ride. Puny cargo space.

  • Missed and Loved - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I loved my Jeep. It was the first time owning a Jeep. I loved the power of the V8 and AWD. The gas mileage was not bad for having a V8. After having my jeep for almost 2 years, unfortunately my husband totaled it about a month ago. I am now debating on another Jeep Grand Cherokee or going with a car that is more fuel efficient, but afraid Ill miss the room and 4X4.

  • 2nd Jeep 05 and 06 - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

My 2005 was a lemon. I was given a $5000 settlement from Jeep. The transmission kept blowing pumps and it had a vibration even after the recall on the torque converter, 3 converters and a transmission rebuild. I took the money and traded it in on a 06. So far the 06 does not have the problems the 05 had, but on the 05 it started with 16,000 miles. In the first 6,000 miles on this Jeep it has been fine. Jeep sales depreciates pretty quickly due to many of the incentives and a lot of Jeeps at the auctions that come off lease ruin the market. So if you’re buying a Jeep make sure you arent in a hurry to sell, just run it into the ground.

  • Rough riding Laredo Grand Cherokee - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought this Jeep used. So far no serious problems, v8 is great specially in mtns. Lots of pick up and go. I am 75 years old and I find riding in back seat is very uncomfortable. I was thinking about changing shocks. Perhaps some type of air shock to add to comfort of riding. Materials used for seats is horrible, stains easily, even when my dog drools a little, it will stain, water does also. I had them cleaned with steam clean and really worked, try it. I have fellow that does it for me. I wish it would ride more comfortably.

This has been a great vehicle, yes the gas mileage is not great but you are driving a real vehicle that runs on regular. Its not a bmw but then again as a half truck, suv and luxury car it is not a bad mix. Today I haul firewood, next the family. No problem

  • 06 Overland - Great Driving Experience - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my 06 Overland about two weeks ago; let me first say that this is by far the most well-appointed and powerful vehicle I have ever owned. Coming from a 99 Wrangler, you can imagine the culture shock. The HEMI is as powerful as I had imagined, albeit not as responsive. It definitely has a good half second of lag before the 330 horses kick in. The interior is gorgeous and feels much more like a Mercedes than a Jeep. And the host of gadgets like Uconnect, navigation and rain sensing wipers impress everyone. The rear seat is not very roomy, and when the front seats are all the way back, you are lucky to be able to put a laptop on the floor back there. That aside, awesome SUV

I love my Laredo 4x4. It was better than I expected. The ride is nice and its size is manageable in any situation.
