This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

this is the first chrysleproduct Ive driven ( lease) since 198when I bought a dodge daytona turbo z. That car was so poor that I dumped it at 20000 miles, and swore no more chrysler products The Jeep has been a very pleasant surprise, and the first ameri car that , to date, has not had a problemThe ergonomics are superb, the stylingis great, and the performance is tops, its a great car

This is my second Grand Cherokee, and I love it just as much as the first one. Its a beautiful car that rides very smooth, and has a very luxurious feel to it. My transmission went out on my 95 at 85,000 and I already took my new one in for a transmission recall at 500 miles. The trans is the only complaint I have with Jeep. Would buy another one for sure.

  • Consumer Reports Hasnt Driven This One! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Before buying my 03 Grand Cherokee Overland, I did my research on SUVs at different websites. I have a special interest with Consumer Reports. They really do not like the Grand Cherokee. I was hesitant about buying one, but test drove the Overland and fell in love. The power in this SUV is awesome! I love the leather, features, and pretty much everything (except the gas mileage). Gas mileage sucks but pretty much all SUVs get sorry gas mileage. I am happy with my purchase, especially with CarMax in Stockbridge, GA. I would not buy from any other dealer!

  • Great Jeep! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased Jeep new on Oct 2002. Jeep has never been back to the shop except for the seat warmer recall. Tires and brakes are original with 63,000 miles and have plenty of wear left. Lots of pep and very comfortable. This is my second Jeep and a great vehicle.

  • Dont buy this vehicle! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my Jeep with 20K miles and at the time thought it was a good investment. Ive owned it for 4 years now and its been in the shop at least a half dozen times for electrical related problems. First the lights wouldnt work, then the automatic windows, then the bucking and stalling, now its the directionals. These are cheap fixes either. Each trip to the shop seems to cost $400. This is the least reliable vehicle Ive ever owned. Ill never buy another Chrysler product and neither should anyone else.

IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SIZE AND AFFORDABILITY THEN THIS IS A GOOD CHOICE. 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS A GOOD FEATURE FOR TODAYS ENVIORMENT, IT HANDLES WELL FOR A SUV, BUT WATCH YOUR TURNS AT HIGH SPEEDS.

  • Loved it...until it kept stalling on me! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this car and loved it for several months, until the engine started to give me problems. It stalled 3 times - the dealer "fixed" it, but I stalled 2 more times, this time in the middle of traffic. The dealership had my car for two weeks and found nothing wrong with it. Now I have to get another car, even though Ive had this for only 10 months. Im very disappointed - I loved this car, but it is extremely unreliable, and the service i DID NOT receive from the dealership was terrible. All 3 local dealerships are terrible - I will most likely never get another Jeep. The Carfax report I paid for said nothing was wrong with that - I blame that on the dealership i bought it from!

  • Love my Overland! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Overland is the ultimate SUV. Luxurious Interior, Sexy Exterior, Great Off-road capabilities, excellent sound system, top-notch amenities, just enough cargo capacity, it has everything you could ever need.

  • Its come a long way! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive had three previous Jeep Grand Cherokees and this one, by far, it the best. People are AMAZED by the comfort of the seats, the ride, the power, and its true advantage in the snow (QuadraDrive System). Although I had problems with 1999 and 2000 models, the 2002/2003 has come a long way. For the money, it needs some updated "toys" in the interior to compete with the BMW/Mercedes/Lexus most notably integrated GPS, but its coming. Drive it! If you dont, youll be excluding one of the most comfortable SUVs on the market. As for gas mileage - we just drove from CT to Florida and averaged 19.2MPG the entire trip. Excellent for a high- output V-8.

My JO has not caused me any problems. I love my Jeep, but it seems like every third vehicle is a Jeep.I think a redesign is due, because my Jeep just does not turn heads. For $39000, I just want a little more WOW! I know that sounds shallow - but hey. My boyfriend just bought an H2. On the way home, I followed in my Jeep. Folks were constantly looking at his vehicle and didnt even notice the Jeep Overland. What takes the cake is .. a couple of neighborhood kids screamed nice truck to him, guess what I got.I know the H2 is something different and the "wow" will wear from that vehicle. But for now, Im looking into the FX45.
