This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

I had a 2000 JGC Laredo V8 that I really liked, but rotors warped. Bought this Jeep Limited HO V8 early 2003 and have put 35000 miles on in 16 mnths. No front rotor warping like the last Jeep, tracks great, stable through high speed turns as long as you keep a constant turn. Try to "saw" your way through turn and you will upset your balance. Slight harsh shift from occasionally. Maybe a small back seat, not a huge cargo area. But way shorter and more easier to drive than a recent Trailblazer rental. I think the interior styling is still attractive, and open. Resales not the greatest it seems, but I love it so much I may keep. Go with V8 HO!

  • Like it! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought used with 24K on it. Have had to have the blend (heater) door fixed - entire dash dismantled, but successful. Had a power window break because it was froze shut and I tried to open it. Dealer where I bought it has NOT been helpful - in fact I would have to say they STINK. Another dealer has been GREAT! They got Jeep to pay for parts off-warranty and fixed things promptly and correctly. Seat could be a bit wider, other than that I love the vehicle, I just hope it keeps running and $2 parts quit breaking that cost $1000 to fix!

  • Very Disappointed - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have always wanted a Jeep and was extremely excited when I purchased this one. However, after 2 years the problems just arent worth it anymore. 500 miles after the factory warranty expired my vehicle began leaking from behind the dash. It leaks so bad it pools. Ive tried to have it fixed 5 times and nobody can seem to fix it. The moisture behind the dash is causing all kinds of other problems..including freezing dials and air vents when it is cold. The window mechanism broke on my passenger side and cost a ton to replace. The check engine light is always coming on - emissions leaks, bad battery, bad sensors. Ive replaced the brakes and the rotors. Okay that happens but Im done trying

  • Chrysler is no help - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep is great with the exception of the brakes. With only 22,000 miles on it the brake rotors warped. Chrysler has had a huge problem with this in the past but would offer me no assistance. This will be my last Chrysler product. I refuse to buy from a company that will not stand behind thier product.

how many times does it take to get it right???????

  • not reliable - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Most disappointing was the reliability. Five or six times in the last year the vehicle has not cranked and the shop was not able to locate the problem. Last week the passenger window stuck in the down position and cost $500 to repair. For a vehicle less than four years is this is not acceptable. I will be looking at a different make in the future.
