This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

picked-up 2003 4.7 laredo, this jeep has come a long way since my first 1990 ltd.Have had 3 since and still own a 1995laredo 4.0, wife loves it. This 2003 is powerful, comfortable and quality has improved steadily over the last 12 years. Could use more spaces to put things but overall a fantastic truck.

  • 2nd Grand Cherokee & Very Happy - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This was an upgrade from the 95 model of the same vehicle. The 95 was a great car other than it suffered from some reliablity issues. This time around I got the extended warranty just in case, but so far no problems and Im totally pleased with it. Build quality seems great and the design and features are top notch. Very confortable and powerful and best looking midsize SUV on the road and off.

  • OK for an American car - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I got a really good deal on this or I probably would have gotten something nicer. I wanted 4 wheel drive and an SUV and I got this one at a good deal. Im used to imports so I would have to say that overall, Im not really happy with it. Wind noise, inferior sound system, chipmunk noises in the dash, not enough power. But if you dont mind buying American, its a good value and nicer than the Fords and Chevys.

  • The worst Jeep I have ever owned - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The worst Jeep I have ever owned, I went through 2 transmissions both of them siezed on me with only having 1600 miles on the car. And remember this is a 2003. Not very reliable is it? I didnt think so.

this is my 5th jeep laredo ive owned- mileage is excellent at 19mpg with 4.7 liter v8, handling superb like a sports car, excellent accelration and engin response-would like to c more room in back seats and also add a 3rd seat and about 8" to vehichle-compared to Ford Explorers ive rented while elk hunting in colorado-THERE IS NO COMPARISON-jeep wins hands down-explorers still like to fishtail down the freeways and 4x4s are not made for off road use!! love my jeep laredo and especially the power seats.

  • TERRIBLE STEERING & BAD REAR-END - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

AS AN EX-JEEP LOVER....YPU PEOPLE WHO RAVE ABOUT IT NEED TO DRIVE IT ON LONG TRIPS....THE STEERING HAS WAY TOO MUCH DRIFT IN IT...AND IVE OWNED FOUR PREVIOUS JEEPS...AFTER 3 WEEKS FROM PURCHASE...IVE HAD TO TAKE IT ON 6 TRIPS FROM FLORIDA TO ILLINOIS...U NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FALLING ASLEEP..THE STEERING KEEPS IT ALL OVER THE ROAD. REAR-END WHINES UNBELIEVABLY...HAD IT REPLACED AT 3,000 MILES,,,STILL NO IMPROVEMENT...BUT STILL..THE STEERING IS A SAFETY HAZARD...U ONLY NOTICE IT ON LONG TRIPS...STEERING OK FOR IN TOWN DRIVING...IM ALREADY LOOKING AT THE KIA SORENTO....IF OTHERS HAVE THE STEERING PROBLEM PLEASE E-MAIL ME BJS382@AOL.COM

  • This Is A Great SUV When You Compare - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee. It does exactly what an SUV is supposed to do with lots of room and easy handling. I drove the competitors and this is hands down the best value for the money.

  • Jeeps are #1 - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

They have the best drive train SUV. They use the old Jeep 4 Wheel system that is very durable. Ive driven almost every SUV and the Jeep was very comfortable but yet very rugged and made to handle the off road. Ive owned about 10 Jeeps over the years and would not trade them for any other SUV. I wanted a vehicle that I knew I could depend on in bad weather. Last winter in NW PA)I drove right through the 4 foot high (plus)drifts in my driveway without even clearing a path and didnt get stuck once. I was on my way to pull a family members Explorer out of the snow that was stuck trying to get out of there driveway.

  • Nice car that needs some improvments - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

What attracted me to the jeep was the style. However, I regret buying it. Rotors continue to pulsate and require resurfacing or replacing about every 5- 10 k, I replaced with cross drilled rotors in the rear, so far so good. A little underpowered, If you manipulate the overdrive manually to delay engagement, you get better accel. w/o the lag. After purchase, fan relay, twice, once by the dealer (warranty) once by myself (good thing Im a mechanic). Window reg broke once (warranty). Highway mileage is great 55- 60 MPH you can get 22-23 mpg if cond. are right. 60-65 mph you get 20-21. Overall it is very comfortable to drive and it suites my needs. If jeep could fix those problems/it would be 10
