This Year's Model Updates:

After going through a full redesign two years ago, the Jeep Grand Cherokee receives a few changes for 2007. Most notably, the Grand Cherokee is expanding its powertrain options and will now offer a diesel engine, as well as an all-new flex-fuel-capable V8 engine that can also run on E85. Additional safety features are now included as standard equipment across the lineup as well.

Pros:
  • Diesel and flex-fuel engine options available, high-performance SRT8 variant, stellar off-road ability, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Cramped backseat, subpar gas mileage with the V8 engine, ride can be bouncy over ruts.

  • Always Wanted an Overland - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Jeep; the prior ones were a 2001 Limited and a 2004 Limited. Each time I bought one there was general improvement in features, comfort and reliability. This 2007 Overland is a huge jump over the 2004. Ride and handling are much improved. The interior seems more spacious and quieter. The new features (backup camera & remote start) are now must haves on my list. The power of the 5.7 Hemi over the previous 4.7 is very noticeable. Fuel economy is in the same range as the 4.7 (still improving as I put more miles on it). Overall a much improved and refined vehicle - less truck like than the previous generation. Looking forward to going on a long trip with this one.

  • Problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hope this helps someone else. I had electrical issues with this vehicle. Dead wont start. Change the ignition module. Mine went out around 30,000 and now again. Tow package for lights not wired correct. Was told it was my trailer wiring. WRONG! It is the wiring and electric in this vehicle. Blower motor for fan went out the other day. This vehicle is a lemon.

  • 2007 3.7 L Grand Laredo, 26X package - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Overall very nice ride on long trips and off road. Exterior paint/ interior hard plastic Quality is marginal. So far, no mechanical problems. Had heated seat harness replaced due to a short. If you are looking for a good family roadster and off road vehicle this is your SUV.

  • 2nd Grand Cherokee..love it so far - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my 2nd Grand Cherokee. I traded in my 2004 Laredo V6 about 2 months ago and love it so far. Wouldnt even know it was the same vehicle, the improvements are great. After 2,600 miles I have no major complaints. I did have an issue at about 2,100 miles with the vehicle not starting but it, for some reason, just needed a jump. Was going back and forth between the Hemi and the 4.7, but in the end chose the 4.7 Not as quick as I had hoped, but still fine for everyday driving. Averging between 15-16mpg in mainly stop and go traffic. Between returning buyer rebate, a discount through work and the manufacturer rebate, got over $9,000 off sticker.

  • Great vechicle - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I love the ride in the Cherokee. It feels really smooth like a car. I hardly feel bumps in the road. I love the exterior design of the Jeep.

  • So Far So Good - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the first Jeep I have purchased. Overall it has been very good. 8000 miles to date so it is still new. A/C will whistle with the medium fan setting. Ride is great. Power is good. Have the Rocky Mountain Package which makes the Laredo more of a Limited. No real complaints to this point. I would recommend this Jeep to other potential buyers.

  • First Jeep - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This was my first Jeep Ive ever bought and to be honest for a winter vehicle I dont think Ill ever buy anything else. Ive driven several SUVs and trucks and I have to say by far the Jeep Cherokee is the absolute best vehicle Ive ever driven in the Snow. The 5.7 eats through the gas though I would recommend maybe going with the 3.7 or 4.7 if your worried about gas millage. With the 5.7L this vehicle can really move but again 14 MPG is a little steep when gas prices are high.

  • Great SUV - no issues - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This has been a great car to own and drive. Car has been mechanically sound and Ive only had to bring it into dealer for regular maintenance. Very confident handling in snow and solid feel to drive. Only recommendation in AWD is to rotate tires every 5K miles for even wear.

  • Alpine Navigation Radio Rear Camera Bust - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The AWD has a heavy draggy feel, especially turning. There is no manual switch on the rear camera (unlike RV), so no way to monitor a trailer via camera. Its instant off, so if you pull up, you lose the view. Objects are much closer than they appear. Adjusting the brightness of the nav unit is possible, but no adjust for when in radio mode, except ineffective dash brightness. I have a towel taped over the dash as all settings are way too bright at night. Per tech there is no way to turn off the display. Per dash computer, MPG has been a disappointing 11.5 MPG over the first 300 miles. Roadside coverage is watered down - no coverage for lockouts, flats or gas.

  • 2007 Cherokee stalling/accelerating problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought my Cherokee brand new in 2006, immediately began having problems... the same as most complaints on here. My jeep would lose power, fail to accelerate over 30mph, fail to start, check engine light goes on & off, all dash lights come on & off. This began before 30,000 miles so the dealer replaced the ignition switch under warranty, that worked great for 20k+ miles but the problem began again recently. PLEASE report your issues to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 100s if not 1,000s of people are complaining of this problem online and Chrysler needs to be held responsible for it. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/
