This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

I love everything about my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has all the room we need and is very well designed. This Jeep has been my dream vehicle. I have 64K miles now and it is still going strong. I choose the 2 wheel drive, because we already have 2 other 4WDs in the family. I usually trade vehicles when I need tires, but never plan on trading my Jeep. You will not be sorry with this vehicle.

Purchased 2003 Jeep Overland new in October 2002. Now have 90,000+ trouble free miles. Only recall by Chrysler was to repair the electric seat warmers. This Jeep still has its original Goodyear tires on it! Rotated all 5 wheels every 10,000 miles. Great power and comfort. Will tow anything I have put behind it. I would have purchased another vehicle by now it were not for the great performance and reliability of my Jeep.

  • My favorite car - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My Jeep has been a great blessing. I have enjoyed driving in the city, felt safe in the floods (did not go out when I did not have to) and have had a blast on the dirt. The V8 engine saved my life as I was able to get out of the way of an out of control car spinning toward me. The acceleration that is possible is something that you would expect from a sports car.

  • Replaced Toyota 4x4 - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This vehicle replaced my Toyota 4x4 which I put 220,000 miles on. It had to be good to get me to replace that Toyota and I have not been disappointed. The power from the six cylinder is very suprising. You step on the gas and the acceleration will press you back into the seat. Looking forward to putting 200,000 miles on it. I put 1000 miles on it in a flash it is fun to drive.

  • AGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Never buying another! Relay switch, Window regulator just plays out, A/C has been totally redone, CD player replaced and still not working right, and the gauges will just flicker and the jeep eventually just dies on us. Has been in shop 4 times for this and well, obviously 4xs...they cant seem to find what is wrong. 2003 only 54,000 miles on it!! We wanted a reliable SUV that we could take traveling in and I dont trust it.

  • This Jeep left me wanting a car! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this vehicle in 2006 with 40,000 miles on it. Still looked and drove like a new vehicle for the first year and my husband is a fanatic about regular maintenance and upkeep. On four different occasions, this Jeep just quit with no warning and I had to have it towed to a garage. Four garages and six well-established mechanics and they still never found the problem. They all say its something electrical (perhaps a short) that they cannot find--even with diagnostic tools. Now, the cooling fan went out (another electric issue) and I cant drive it less than 20 mph without it overheating. BOTH front automatic window mechanism have also busted and had to be replaced at $300 each.

this is my third jeep and i have loved everything about them except the windshield. it is so hard to keep it from staying greasy which is a hazard in rainy weather. the other thing (that passengers complain about) is the rocking from side to side it does on rough pavement.

In july we purchased a cherokee limited and we were very excited. We thought it was our dream car and it turned into a nightmare. We had gotten the 8 cyl because the review on the 6 was not so good. Well we have had nothing but problems with the transmission. It has slipped from drive to neutral and also from reverse to neutral. The car idiles at 400 to 300 rpms and stalls when it is at a light. The interior is also made poorly. The sunroof has fallen apart. Insullation from the windows has fallen out and there is also alot of moisture on the interiors of the windows. The dealership has done nothing to fix these problems.

This is my sixth Grand Cherokee. Excellent ride and looks. The 4.0 is the best 6 cylinder ever made.

  • Love my new Laredo - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have put almost 5000 miles on this new jeep and I love it!!! I had a 2000 Cherokee Sport that I thought rode like a wagon, but this GRAND LAREDO is a very nice, smooth ride. My mom has a Trailblazer and I like my Jeep FAR, FAR better!
